Most important recruits
These are the recruits I feel we can't afford to lose out on.
1. DPJ: Not necessarily based on need because we would be fine if we ended up with the other 3 guys, but with his talent and with us being the leaders, we need to get that signature.
2. Ruiz: Could potentially be a starter as a sophomore since Cole and Kugler will be seniors.
3. Elite tackle: Filiaga, Wills, Wilson, Leatherwood. Sure we would like them all, but we better get at least one, and preferably 2.
4. Solomon or Tufele: NT depth is a little scary. We need an impact guy and soon.
5. Ambry Thomas: I like St Juste but we need another corner that could potentially play early. All the CB's have been UM lately, but I'm hearing some MSU fans express some confidence. Any new updates?
6. JKP: Not the highest rated of our targets but the coaches suppposedly love him and we desperately need safety depth.

Convince Peppers to return for a year and I'll be ok with missing out on ALL of those guys you listed.

Everyone assumes that Jabrill is going pro, but notice how he never talks about it. He might be the kind of guy who really values his degree. And if I am not mistaken, he has said that he will not leave without it. Wouldn't that be nice!

He'll graduate this year.

After three years? That would be impressive.

It's actually more common than you'd think
November 3rd, 2016 at 12:10 AM ^
It would be obviously incredible if Jabrill stayed. I fully expect him to head to the NFL but he truly is a unique guy and wouldn't shock me completely if he stayed especially if we don't finish as well as we could this year. Time will tell.

If he's a top ten pick, and currently being projected as such, he gone. Don't blame him a bit.

It would be nice. Problem is that it's his 3rd year at the school. I'm not certain of his academic standing but plenty of student athletes have graduated in just 3 seasons.

I'd really like Nico Collins, not only because he's a great talent, but because Gus Malzahn can then take his arrogant "no northern school will ever sign an instate kid that Auburn or Alabama wants" comment and proceed to shove it right up his tightly wound ass.

I was flipping channels and watched a recruiting show on the other SEC network, CBS Sports. They listed both of those recruits. When they were talking about Solomon they didn't even mention Michigan. They said it's Ala or Ga. With Tufele Michigan was barely mentioned with schools out west being the favorites.
I guess it's all about perspective whether one thinks Michigan is leading, in the hunt, or not even in consideration. Given Harbaugh's persona I think in the hunt is the correct answer for all recruits.

we were a blip on the radar of Asiasi. "You know what it takes to close recruits? It takes brass balls to close recruits."

Solomon is coming to AA on an official visit with his mother this weekend. She wants him to go to GA (according to reports). Impress her and its a new contest. We're nowhere near being a favorite, but we're not out of it.
Tufele does have us among his leaders. His official visit went very well, according to him. He says he bonded a bit with Paea. Earlier this year he listed Utah, UM and OSU as his top 3. Recently I saw a list that included Arizona State as well.

After missing out on Donald Corley last year, DPJ is a must get and the others will follow.
November 3rd, 2016 at 12:34 AM ^
that MSU decision now?
November 3rd, 2016 at 12:38 AM ^
Well he's their number 1 WR.... he'd be a likely redshirt candidate for us, or he'd play very sporadically (like Crawford).
November 3rd, 2016 at 1:08 AM ^
I doubt he'd be redshirting when Mcdoom and Crawford are playing. He'd probably be getting more passes from Speight than armpunts from MSU.
November 3rd, 2016 at 1:18 AM ^
But if you pay attention, McDoom is only playing really as a run threat on the reverses. Crawford is playing for his blocking skills.
McDoom and Crawford COMBINE for 5 catches on 9 targets all season. Corley doesn't seem to be better than Crawford (albeit it's arguable) and wouldn't play the same role as McDoom.
So he's making a much bigger impact at MSU than he would be right now at Michigan. Whether that remains to be true in the future would be up for debate. But if Corley were at Michigan this year, he'd be a strong redshirt candidate (doesn't have the blocking ability of Crawford)
November 3rd, 2016 at 9:48 AM ^
it isn't about his production or him being their #1. People are saying he should regret his decision because he has to catch passes from that clusterfuck of a QB situation at MSU. I would take the possibility of redshirtimg and having 4 years of Michigan QB's throwing to me rather than playing as a freshman and having to catch passes from whoever wins the QB battle at MSU, Lewerke or DeWeaver
November 3rd, 2016 at 2:05 PM ^
They said he's regretting the decision, right now. Which I doubt, as he's their top target and wouldn't be playing here (or would be rarely used).
Now you're going to look to the future and say he would regret it. That's a dangerous game. You have no idea how good deWeaver is going to be or how much Lewerke is going to progress once his leg heals. You seem to be under the impression that those two freshmen aren't going to improve past where they're currently at.
As if Cousins and Cook were ALWAYS All-B1G QBs. They aren't going to be below-average QBs their entire careers. And Corley will always be their featured target. Just look at who Michigan has, and who is likely coming in this class. You can't sit there and tell me Corley would be our featured WR.
November 3rd, 2016 at 10:37 AM ^
He's not MSU's #1 receiver, he is clearly #2 behind Shelton.
November 3rd, 2016 at 10:50 AM ^
was almost their #1 receiver last week.
November 3rd, 2016 at 2:06 PM ^
Shelton doesn't really play much of a WR role though. He catches a lot of passes, but he's utilized as an H-Back an awful lot.

No 1 recruit is more important than the team

November 3rd, 2016 at 12:16 AM ^
This is a message board. This type of thread is basically the reason for the board's existence.
The thing the drives me the most crazy about these "STAY FOCUSED ON THE NEXT GAME" types of posts is that they diminish the accomplishment of the players & staff. It's like the poster is trying to act like he himself has done something to put the team in this position, and must continue to do so. Nope.
November 3rd, 2016 at 7:30 AM ^
Yep, it's as if our "fan focus" could derail the next game for the actual UM team.

You build championships from the lines out. Give me all the elite lineman on both sides of the ball. Solomon is the player that I think has immediate contributor written all over him and give us back some of Dline depth we lose and a player like Leatherwood could potentially step in at right tackle in year one. Plus stealing one (or two) from Saban would be nice (yeah, you too Harris).
DPJ and Thomas because the best players in Michigan go to Michigan.
November 2nd, 2016 at 11:50 PM ^
Replenishing quality talent on both lines is very important. A great Oline can make a decent qb or rb look real good. Same for the Dline for the rest of the D behind them. I think Ceasar Ruiz is the most important recruit on our board.
November 2nd, 2016 at 10:59 PM ^
MSU fans are also confident on Lavert Hill, Patrick Kugler, Lawrence Marshall, Brian Cole, and Drake Harris. Sam and Steve Lorenz both believe that he would be a Wolverine if his recruitment ended today. We still have 3 months for Harbaugh to show him our national championship rings.
November 3rd, 2016 at 5:02 AM ^
impact players for Michigan. Especially Cole.
