Cubs @ Indians - Game 6

Submitted by outwest on

Two quick outs for the Cubs and then the floodgates opened.  HR by Bryant and some terrible baseball by Cleveland have the early score at 3-0.

My dad grew up in Steubenville OH an Indians fan. When he was 14, his Boy Scout troop won tickets to the 54 World Series. Day they were to drive up to the game, my dad got appendicitis and couldn't go. He's been bummed about it for 62 years.

Rooting for the Tribe for him.

It's only idiotic if your priority is to give the WS home field advantage to the more deserving team.

If, on the other hand, your priority is to make the All-Star game fun, then it makes perfect sense.

Myself, I love it.

Maybe they could make a caveat that if the team that doesn't get home field adv. through the all star game has a certain regular season win % better than the team they play in the WS then they end up with home field adv. keeps the importance of the all star game intact but allows room for if there is a truly great team, making sure they're awarded for that.

Congratulations to MLB for boasting BY FAR the stupidest rule in the history of all four major sports: The "winning league in the all star game gets home field in the WS." The Cubs won 103 games and these last two games belong in Wrigley with no DH. The dumb result of this dumb policy has never felt so dumb.

Absolutely correct. In baseball every team is guarenteed an all star. I'm just going to use this year as an example (hypothetical).  If some pitcher from the Reds (68-94) gives up a homerun to some boner from the Twins (59-103) in the 6th inning of the all star game that proves to be the game winner. Then the game gives AL home field.  What the fuck!?

Cubs bats finally show up.  Nice to see Bryant with a sweet swing, and Russell has crazy power.

Indians had no choice - Tomlin was getting rocked. Appears Francona chose the wrong reliever though.

Looks like we'll have a game 7 -  gonna be epic - Go Cubs!!!

aaand it's a blowout already. Well at least now we have the opportunity blow game 7 in heartbreaking fashion. and here I was supposing I'd see an Indians championship before I died...

Could be a blessing in disguise. Kleuber will be ready to go and then you bring in the big guns from the pen with extra rest. Anyway good on the Cubs for making it a series.

Cleveland wins this in Game 7. Sorry, Cubbies' fans. I really think that's what is gonna happen -- and I have NO dog in this fight. Can't stand the Indians, as a matter of fact, and would really like to see Chicago come back from 3-1 and win this thing.

But it's gonna be Kluber, and then a whole lot of Miller, and that'll make a 2-0 or even perhaps a 1-0 lead stand up. Those two guys have been untouchable.

So, I'm rooting for the Cubs, but I'm not feeling too good about what's gonna go down in Game 7. Which, as pointed out elsewhere in this thread, really SHOULD BE played in Chicago, since the Cubs had the better overall regular season record. Yeah, that All-Star determination...very stupid indeed.

Win the series I am guessing Cleveland fans will grow to regret the whole "The Warriors Blew a 3-1 lead" crap they constantly remind us of.
