How much more pleasant is your office today?

Submitted by MaizeAndBlueWahoo on

Directly across the aisle from me there's an M flag hanging where once was an S flag.  A certain green-clad co-worker lost a bet.  (Wasn't me who made it - we outnumber the Sparties in this area.)  She's good people so not too much of unnecessary smack talk today, but the M fan who did make the bet asked me if anything looked different, and I couldn't help remarking that for some reason the aisle looked extra classy today.  As I type this my coworker is suggesting that she's getting more compliments than usual on the state of her cube and perhaps we should invite more people over.  The flag has to stay up until the CoFoPoff final.

How about it, Monday crew, any pleasing fallout from Saturday at work today?  Perhaps some areas of the office a little quieter than they have been?  Anybody who really needed a dose of comeuppance?

True story. I posted a thing on FB about Jabrill's insanely fast final 40 yards of the 2-pt conversion return. A sparty hopped on there, unprovoked, to talk shit. He said things like, "you arrogant assholes need to learn your place; go back to Wal-Mart" (even though I am an alumnus and would also never shop at Wal-Mart)...he called Harbaugh "hairball" at one point and ended the whole Facebook battle with "BYE FELICIA"....so 12 years old might be too generous.

A small group of FSU fans are sad but the Florida fans and I are happy as can be.  Oh and since I am in Tampa the USF fans are happy as well with their big win over Navy.

Easy on the LOL, I'm not sure who you guys you're referring to but it looked like a win for U of M on my screen.

Sorry if you're having trouble with it being the third win in ten years but maybe you could quit throwing jabs at a fellow maize and blue fan, I think we'd probably get along a little better?! I'm a little embarrassed for my own fanbase after that last comment!

I was just as shocked as the rest of the free world when U of M melted down in Ann Arbor last year so it was no surprise to see them come out ready to play and avenge the late loss last year.

If it hurts your xtramelanin feelings because I pointed out that the monkey on the back is better once removed than call me whatever you like but the numbers don't lie and Sparty has had Blue's number more often than not lately. It looks as though that trend has gone the other way this year but I'm also not going to go around beating my chest about taking down an Sparty squad that is 0-5 in B1G play. I'll leave that to those more qualified...

I can assure you my loyalties do not lie in East Lansing but I'll also admit I don't have any trouble cheering for Sparty when they're not playing Blue. I also don't have any issue cheering for B1G when it comes bowl season either so I guess if you'd like to play another troll card for that one, here's your chance...

It is very pleasant. However, I am killing them with silence. The game meant much more to Sparty than to us and I am treating it accordingly. If the topic comes up I will tell them they played great and it should give them confidence against Illinois anf Rutgers. Go Blue!!!

all this.

The Sparty fans I know here in San Francisco HATE it when don't stoop to the BS. It drives them nuts, way more than name calling, game-complaining, history pointing, etc.

I simply congratulated them in a nice way on playing their best game of the season and indicated I was surprised by how close they made it and what a test they were.

One brought up the "2 in the last 9" thing and I simply smiled and replied, "you pick your point in the past and I'll pick mine, plus I'll choose a date in the future we can look back from, because I feel pretty good about that too."

I'm in STL.

Missou is 2-6 and the Cubs are in the World Series instead of the Cardinals, other than the occasional comment about the blues everyone is acting as though sports simply don't exist anymore.

Also there were the Rams, but we they won't talk about them either.

I feel more at peace as though the world in more in balance though.

got Peppers fatigue for the first time on Saturday.  He played well, very good play on the sack, and I actually thought they could have used a few more packages with him down by the goal line or deep in State territory.  But the posing and preening on the sideline for what felt like 20 minutes?  Yeah, that was a little bit over the top.  It is not as though we went in there and completely dominated the game, it was clear he was amped for the win, but I thought it crossed the line into shenanigans.  Somebody who truly dominates the game does not have to convince people that he did, they simply see it.  I did not come away from Saturday thinking "that Peppers guy is amazing" to the exclusion of other more pertinent observations.

And I don't see any evidence that his teammates "don't like him," but I kind of do feel like the defense may be reading their press clippings and, perhaps Peppers especially.  We held in the red zone for the most part but Scott gashed us on the ground.  The secondary also gave up some plays and there would be been a few more if State had a competent QB on the roster, and Peppers flat dropped a pick deepn in State territory.

Long story short, I like Peppers a lot.  I think he will play offense exclusively in the NFL and be a really exciting player. But his "celebrity" is starting to feel as though it is a little distracting.  I feel like Harbaugh wants him to win the Heisman more so than it being something that is happening organically.  Just my opinion.

I really wanted him to get injured. And I'm not normally one of those people.

OSU fan seriously concerned about their performance against NU and unwilling to double our preseason bet on The Game.

are the Domers.  Still want Brian Kelly fired and replace him w one of three people:

1) Nick Saban - ND fans believe he has accomplished everything he can at Alabama.

2) Urban Meyer - Has ND roots, and has accomplished everything he can at Florida and OSU.

3) Jon Gruden - Has accomplished everything he can in NFL and making big fat paychecks as an announcer.

Desperation has set in, must be better to live in their own world of fantasy...

Sparty and Domers a combined 5-11, very quiet in my office.  Life is good!

I am the only Michigan fan in my office. Surrounded by OSU and ND fans.... they're all nice people that give credit when it is earned. I talked with my mom about the game yesterday and although we didn't blow them out; we just had to get that psychological monkey off our back. On to Maryland, this has been a fun ride and I don't see it stopping now.

Btw, did anyone in attendance Saturday hear their student section chant? It went "F*u*k Jim Harbaugh, F*U*K Jim Harbaugh; he suck balls?" I turned and told the sparties in my section that you would never hear a choreographed chant like that in the Big House. Of course they all said that was BS but I have never heard our student section and our fan base chant that sort of stuff. Thoughts?....

I was on Section 4 which was 90% MIchigan fans but I didn't hear that chant.  I did have an obnoxious drunk Spartan woman right behind me constantly bitching that Michigan was fucking cheating.  SHe maintained MSU would win by 3 TD's even with 3 minutes to go.

we walked right thru where the student's gate is on our way in and heard absolutely nothing pre-game.  Heard nothing during the game ... and nothing after the game.  My 2nd trip to MSU and I've never been treated poorly.  Now going to Purdue is another matter all together !!!

Go Blue!

There is nothing better than a quiet spartan.

I attended the game and was not heckled at all.  I avoided eye contact on my way to my seat, and was surrounded by Wolverine fans.  Overall, it was a great Michigan afternoon.  On the way out, they were as quiet as can be.  It was glorious.

Everyone here is hardcore Penn State so nothing is new. They don't talk much garbage so life has been good.

Now, my brother-in-law is a Sparty. I've been told by my mother that he has been a raging grump the last six weeks. I don't like to needle him, but I have been smiling all weekend.
