Michigan has given every opponent so far its worst loss of the season
Interesting accomplishment I noticed looking for transitive games on upcoming schedules - every single game Michigan has played so far has been the worst loss of the year for our opponents. This may be another statistic we have to play for the rest of the way out...
Hawaii - 60 point win, next biggest loss by 19 to Arizona
UCF - 37 point win, next biggest loss by 6 to Maryland
Colorado - 17 point win, next biggest (and only other) loss by 4 to USC
Penn State - 39 point win, next biggest (and only other) loss by 3 to Pitt
Wisconsin - 7 point regulation win, other loss in OT by 7 to OSU (giving us the regulation tiebreaker here)
Rutgers - 78 point win, next biggest loss by 58 to OSU
Illinois - 33 point win, next biggest loss by 25 to UNC
MSU lost by 24 to Wisconsin, so I'm sure we'll look to keep this streak alive in East Lansing (and we should be able to get there if we play as we have). Proxy war champs 2016, Go Blue!

I decided to look at Alabama...
Using the transitive property (12 times), Garden City Community College is better than Alabama this year. They're going down so hard in the playoff.

Transitively, who's got it better that us?

I can't seem to embed the image here .... but the "transitive property tree" for any team. I like the visualization. The Rutgers branches aren't very substantive!

Even so, when you look at the margins of loss.....poor Rutgers.
Seriously though, it feels good to be able to say that your team is responsible for something like this, the domination of everyone they've faced to date. It would be interesting to know if this also holds true for yards allowed and a couple other metrics - that is to say, were those teams at their least productive overall when facing Michigan?

Well...duh.

Wish I could care about this but I didn't go to UM.

Yes, it will be....

Those all will probably hold up except Illinois. Someone's sure to beat the hell out of them. They got off easy in terms of score last week.
October 24th, 2016 at 11:05 PM ^
That is pretty awesome. Looking forward to a vicious beatdown of the Spartans. Win with cruelty.
October 24th, 2016 at 11:11 PM ^
like crap, but a more realistic target is BYU's 17 point win. Wisconsin had turnovers and short fields that probably won't happen Saturday.
But by all means beat MSU by 30
fwiw, the worst ever Michigan beating put on a Spartan team in the modern era (post 1950) is the 49-3 "Bobby Williams have you lost control of your team, I don't know" game.
46 seems, actually plausible for some reason.

Michigan makes teams look bad
October 25th, 2016 at 12:33 AM ^
This. We made Penn State look like a pop warner team. We beat Liufau into a pulp. Wisconsin couldn't move the football all day.
This is a special team this year.
October 24th, 2016 at 11:43 PM ^
Character and cruelty.
October 24th, 2016 at 11:45 PM ^
This is the Michigan difference.
October 24th, 2016 at 11:52 PM ^
OSU and Bama fans are trying to say that Michigan has a "cupcake schedule'.
Wrong. Michigan is flat out rolling teams. This is domination that we have not seen in years and after the NC game this year, we will think of this team as the Best Michigan Team ever.
October 25th, 2016 at 12:19 AM ^
OSU choked prettty hard on that Penn State cupcake.

You win the internet today!
October 25th, 2016 at 2:22 PM ^
if we keep winning, we will beat OSU and the probably play Bama. Keep winning and nobody will care who we played earlier.
October 25th, 2016 at 12:13 AM ^
Also LOL Rutgers.
October 25th, 2016 at 12:17 AM ^
We made Ohio State feel insecure about a 58 point win.
Heh heh.
October 25th, 2016 at 12:54 AM ^
We gotta destroy sparty. I know a win is a win, but anything less than complete obliteration will be somewhat disappointing. They are NOT a good team.
GO BLUE!!

O'Conner is going to have fits with numbers , especially 3. 3,33,43,73 and 5 and 96.
He'll never forget those numbers.

Great find! It will be most interesting to see how Colorado does against Washington next week.
October 25th, 2016 at 1:42 AM ^
Oops. My mistake Washington plays Utah and doesn't play Colorado. Rutgers was our common opponent with Washington
October 25th, 2016 at 1:28 AM ^
As Harbaugh says, this is a championship game. Even a team having a bad year can be dangerous.
I'll be happy with a win.
October 25th, 2016 at 6:36 AM ^
I mean, unranked Penn State just shocked the previously undefeated #2 team in the country last weekend, so... yeah, 100%.
October 25th, 2016 at 2:32 AM ^
This is awesome
October 25th, 2016 at 3:18 AM ^
We beat hawaii by more than hawaii, ucf, colorado, penn state, and wisconsins next biggest losses all combined.
Head asplode

I'm pleasantly surprised at how good that Penn State win is looking. They appear to be a legit top 20ish team and we just crushed them
October 25th, 2016 at 2:43 PM ^
Were all injured on the first string. Probably good for a few points for us.
October 25th, 2016 at 6:21 AM ^
I like this find. nice work. However, I wonder how much all our games being at home helped. Many of those second hardest losses came at home for those teams. Road games are tougher.
October 25th, 2016 at 9:26 AM ^
We currently have a higher average margin of victory on the road than at home. :)
October 25th, 2016 at 6:27 AM ^
Not that it changes your statistic or anything, but Hawaii actually lost to Cal by 20 (51-31), making that their second-worst loss.
October 25th, 2016 at 8:41 AM ^
Hope the trend continues. Thanks for pointing that out
October 25th, 2016 at 2:41 PM ^
I loved that episode! Still say that word just like that today.
October 25th, 2016 at 9:06 AM ^
That is the Don Brown effect. In 2015 BC gave a bunch of teams their lowest margin of victory for the year. ND, Clemson, FSU, Louisville, Duke if I recall correctly. Not to mention they lost to Wake Forest 3 to 0. And Wake Forest's field goal drive was 4 plays for -2 yards. That defense is stout.
October 25th, 2016 at 2:32 PM ^
I actually have to stop sometimes and just laugh at how the best defensive coordinator in the country was just chilling and quietly kicking ass at bottom-of-the-barrel FBS schools for the last 20 years.

All in a day's work for...THE PROFESSOR
October 25th, 2016 at 9:28 AM ^
But with yards (maybe yards for, yards against, yard differential). I don't expect Michigan to be first in all of those, but expect it to look pretty dominating if someone has the time.
October 25th, 2016 at 12:08 PM ^
Remember when people were calling Michigan fans delusional because there was no way Harbaugh would get things turned around so much (regardless of how much time he was given) on account of him being overated?

My son LOVES Derek Jeter and wants to be just like him. That includes, obviously going to U of M. I recently used this site to find the perfect glove for him. I'm new to this but I think we found him the right one. Anybody have any suggestions or warnings that I could take into account?

Derek Jeter is one of the most heavily marketed athletes of his generation.
