Chris Evans Appreciation Thread

Submitted by WSU to Blue on

Kinda random, but I feel like it's necessary to give a shoutout to Chris Evans, who's our best running back (statistically) through 7 weeks.  After taking a look, our RB numbers are as follows:

Evans: 48 attempts, 400 yards, 3TDs, 8.3avg; 4 receptions, 28 yards, 0TDs, 7.0avg

Higdon: 35 attempts, 259 yards, 5TDs, 7.4avg; No receiving stats

Smith: 61 attempts, 336 yards, 2TDs, 5.5avg; 10 receptions, 21 yards, 0TDs, 2.1avg

Isaac:  53 attempts, 291 yards, 4TDs (career high), 5.5avg; 1 reception, 21 yards, 0TDs, 21.0avg

The good thing is all of our RB numbers are looking pretty healthy, but thus far Evans has been able to churn out more production with less touches.  As a true freshman he's exceeded my expectations personally, and it's worth noting that we haven't even scratched the surface with what he can do as a receiver.  I expect his skills to be in full bloom entering The Game.  It's good to know we're in good good hands when it comes to coaching and player personnel now, and in the future.  Here's to continuing our road to the playoffs! (Knock on wood)

This kid has been a pleasent surprise this season. I am looking forward to see what he will do in the years to come with a Wall of an offensive line. Should be fun to watch.

Would also love to see him get more touches in the passing/screen game to get him into space. Seems like he's going to be a special player. Excited to see what Harbaugh can do with all of these options.

Evans, Higdon, Ty and all of the kids next year (maybe a 6th year Drake too) will be the best RB group in the B1G.  Better and deeper than Ohio too.

While Evans has been a pleasant surprise for a freshman player, 265 of those 400 came against Hawai'i and Rutgers.

He didn't get a carry against Penn St. (56 yards, his next best day) until we were up 28-3.

I think he's the best of our RB's when he gets into space, but in a game like Wisconsin where you need to break tackles and run inside and push the pile, he's still probably a year in the weight room from being ready.  But once's he's ready he could be really really good.

I'll take them all. Ty Isaac is going to destroy OSU this year running that wildcat option attack with Jabril. I do think Evans will run all over MSU though. That Dline is one of the worst in the conference. We'll open huge holes that day.
