Long told ESPN in June he was "finally healthy ... the best I've felt in five or six years." His pronouncement was endorsed to teams by Dr. James Andrews, who has performed Long's surgeries and overseen the player's recovery.

Hopefully he can stay on the field with a good team.

As a Lions fan, I think it sucks.  But glad that Jake avoided that "giant sucking sound" - which is the quicksand and the swamp that is Detroit Lions football.

Best quarterbacks for Lions in last 50 years:

1) Matt Stafford

2) Gary Danielson/Greg Landry

3) All the other QBs that have stunk in last 50 years

4) Joey Harrington and Andre Ware, who were absolutely worthless after using up a high draft pick.

Not that I feel strongly about this as a bitter Lions fan...

He's going on his 10th year, right?

That's an impressive career, and I hope his injury heals fully, to the point where it doesn't affect life after football.

Starting RT Lane Johnson was suspended today for PEDs. It is his second career suspension, so he will be out 10 games. Jake Long, at this stage of his career, might make a decent right tackle.
