Isn't it a violation for RipRod to know how Tate is doing in the weight room? I thought he wasn't allowed to know how people did in workouts during the off season.

Several weeks ago RR mentioned that Tate was already up to 195 lbs. I saw Donovan Warren measured 5' 11" and 194 lbs. at the NFL combine and he looked ripped. Can't wait to see Tate at that weight or even 200 lbs. It will be a huge change from last year.

But I think it's okay for Barwis to let him know how kids are progressing.

It's during the summer no-no period that can (and has) get him in trouble.

It's good to see Coach Rod establishing positive rapport in the Toledo area. We can't allow Ohio State to pull anymore Top 100 recruits from a traditional Michigan hotbed.

...frequently uses poor grammar, he seems to be a decent enough and football savvy guy who deserves a solid chance at Michigan. Part of RR's problem is that over the last few decades, incredibly high standards of excellence were set at Michigan, and it's difficult to instantly live up to the high expectations (especially during a transitional period when coaching philosophies and preferred player profiles have been undergoing fairly dramatic change).

I was originally dubious as to whether Michigan made the proper choice with RR. I think my assessment was frankly unfair. I'm really pulling for him to be successful and to enjoy a long tenure at Michigan. To that end, if he notches a solid eight win season, the critics will reluctantly be forced to fade away.

He knows how imperative it is to toe the line now, too. I'm confident that the extraneous "dust" will settle come this Fall.

If we're not careful, the media and fan crucifixion he's endured could end up backfiring on us if he restores us to prominence and then elects to leave for greener, less critical pastures. I'm not sure I'd blame him for leaving in that instance.

I really don't get what these high standards we set on the football field, and should aspire to be again. Am I the only one that remembers that we lost 3 or 4 games a year pretty consistently? For all the " We are Michigan" talk that everybody spews regardless of blog, I would hope that since " We are Michigan" we would have higher hopes then to aspire to get back to those standards. I am all for figuring out a way to bypass those standards myself.

I was a little bit pissed when I read what Rich Rod thought of Jim Tressel. I realize that Bo absolutely loved Woody but I don't think you would have read about it in a newspaper while the two were coaching. I would like our coach to add as much fuel as he can to the rivalry, it is a rivalry for Christ's sake.

We must hate hated rival! (even if he is a decent, respectful person)

Eh, I don't think so. The rivalry can be played out on the field - we don't need to create controversies to enhance the rivalry. In other words, we aren't MSU.

Save the vitriol for people that have earned it - certain OSU fans, Dantonio, and Danny Hope or whatever that Purdue guy's name is.

Hi, it's your memory of the not-too distant past calling. Yeah, good, and you? Sorry we haven't talked in so long. OK, I was calling just to see whether you remember how you felt about Coach Carr in, say, early September of 1998? You know, right after the Championship, which we celebrated by embarrassing ourselves against ND and Syracuse? How about 2005, when a miracle prevented us from losing to ND, MSU, OSU and our bowl opponent in the same year? You don't recall that either? How about after the Oregon game in 2006? No recollection at all, huh? The end of '06? No luck still. Weird. No, no, nothing's wrong, I just wondered where all of these "it sure was perfect with Lloyd" memories were coming from.
According to me, words like 'dinosaur', 'old', 'slow', 'retire', and 'fire' were getting used a lot. Yeah, good to talk to you, too. We really should hang out more often.

I agree with your sentiment, but I find it hilarious that you referenced a bad loss to Oregon in 06 when I'm pretty sure we were undefeated heading into the OSU game in 06 so I don't think we were upset at Oregon. Using memory problems as the basis for your post and then not remembering correctly is awesome.

It's like posting this. Your spelling is tereble.

Your point stands though. I'll give you a +1 for that. The only point I remember most fans being kinda all happy at the same time was for about 5 minutes after the WSU Rose Bowl. The same guys longing for the old days probably blasted Carr for being conservative and MO for not winning more and Bo for running the ball too much. Some people just like to bitch.

I went to this dinner. RR was pretty funny during his speech, but like the first post said nothing groundbreaking. It was good to see him come to the Toledo area.
