Final Day Of The Regular Season Open Thread

Submitted by jamiemac on
It's the last day of the regular season. I know its not as exciting as we'd hoped, but if anyone wants to chat about college hoops, be it Michigan or anything else going on in an insane week of action fire away. let's rap. And, if you think I started this thread to pimp my own blog where we have posts today on the tournament bubble and watching my addiction ascend to new heights (we're thinking positively here), well, maybe you're right. But I'd like to talk college hoops as well.

Let's face it: MSU has owned us for the past three years. We haven't beat them in 855 days. Their football program is ahead of ours right now, and we don't even belong on the same basketball court as them. I really dread October when they beat us again in football at the Big House.

Win 3 and hammer Sparty in the Big Ten Tourney championship game. Ohhh the things I'd give up to have that happen. We deserve SOMETHING good in 09-10

Haven't beaten them in a major sport in x number of days? We just recently beat them in hockey, and will do it two more times this weekend. Hockey is a 'major' sport. What the national media considers a real sport, and what the rest of North America considers a real sport, are two entirely different things.

I know this might be of little consolation with another loss to MSU, but always remember that UM has consistently been the better sports program (outside of basketball) compared to MSU. That has been true for decades, and a slight slip-up isn't going to change that. I fully expect the football team to turn it around this year, for the hockey team to rebound after its first bad season in about 2 decades, and, well, basketball is still a work in progress 2 out of 3 ain't bad. And beyond sports, let's not forget that UM is still one of the preeminent universities in the world, and will continue to be one moving forward. http://detnews.com/article/20100302/SCHOOLS/3020372/As-U-M-hires-and-builds-up--MSU-cuts-back So year, it sucks now, but I much rather suffer a couple of years on my way up than to wallow in mediocrity.

You guys are so lame. The MSU folks could admit it when their football program was in limbo - Bobby Williams, John L Douchebag, etc. Why can't we all just admit the following: - We have a douchebag coach in football. State owns us right now. win a game against a MSU football team that's on the rise and you can correct me. Until then, we need to shut our mouths. - MSU absolutely OWNS us in Basketball. The fact they even show us respect and call us a "rival" is very generous. We suck right now (We haven't won a Big Ten Championship since 1986!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) We haven't won in Breslin since 1997!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The also nearly swept us in Hockey this year. Yeah, they had suspensions and early departures for the NHL last year so don't make a big deal out of our record vs them last year - they've had our number for a while. Seriously, let's face facts. We need to shut our mouths until we win against them. They have more National Championships than us in football during the modern era (1950-present), have a ore recent National Championship in hockey, don't even bring up basketball... I am not sure we can surpass MSU which has a president, AD, Fottball/basketball/hockey coqches that are just superior right now and are landing top recruits in all sports (see that 5* LB they just landed for '11??) I am not bailing on old blue, just need to face the facts and deal with it. Continue with the excuses but you are just giving those guys (MSU fans, etc) ammo to laugh at us. UM sports are in a downward spiral right now.

I know you're a troll from MSU, so I'm probably wasting my time, but I was at MSU during the latter part of the JLS era, and trust me, MSU fans were all drinking the Kool-Aid and thinking Drew Stanton would take them to the MNC game. Objectivity is not a trait of any fan base, and Sparty is definitely no different. And if a "MSU team on the rise" means one that just went 6-7 and hasn't won a bowl game since Saban left, then maybe you need to reevaluate your definition of rise.

I'm a State fan, so I'm on your side, but I hope you don't really think that these Michigan fans are going to think you are a UM fan as well. You're not exactly being very stealthy about you true allegiance.
