They arrived September 16, I believe. Or maybe the 17th. Either way, it was more than a week ago.

I feel like this year in Hockey will be like if Lloyd came back in 2008. He left the cupboard bare for someone else.
We're just looking at a crater in terms of goal scoring returning. At least Red is gonna pass it off to someone (hopefully) next season after they get experience.

I feel like the only thing we have going for us is being in the Big Ten which should be pretty bad again this year. If we played in the NCHC or Hockey East my expectations would be even lower

missing the tourney again this year, as it's been happening too much lately. But, I agree with you will probably be a .500 team this year and start wondering again who will be the coach next year.

We lost way too much for that lofty ranking.

State received votes. Who on earth ranked them?

We lose our top line and have shown no semblence of defense since Mel left. Hopefully it goes well but it may be rough.

And Werenski, Nieves, Selman.

Tangent: I happened to take one of those Sporcle quizes over the weekend to see how many of the 60 NCAA D1 hockey teams I could name in 5 minutes and I was thoroughly disgusted with myself when I only got 55.

I'd like to apologize to the entire student body at Canisus and St Lawrence. And three other schools who are escaping my memory (yet again).

It sucks but I expect this to be a rough season and bad send-off for Red.

But I hope you're wrong.

Michigan is ranked that high because they are Michigan, I guess.
The team was delightfully fun last year, but ultimately too flawed to compete with the best. There was nothing flukey about that North Dakota loss at all. It was a team that relied heavily on a brilliant top line with occasional mid-line contributions and some dominant offensive zone play from guys like Werenski.
Which is to say, basically everything Michigan hung its hat on last year is gone. And, unlike last season, we don't have another hot recruit coming in to set the world on fire.
I expect/hope that Alex Kile will really put it together this year. He has shown flashes and might be the kind of guy that hits his stride after a few years of "almost." But I'm not sure what else the team will be able to rely on to consistently win games. I suspect it will be a depressing season. There appear to be actual preseason expectations outside of the program, and I don't see any way that Michigan comes close to reaching them.

Only two BIG teams in the preseason Top 20. Sounds about right.
