OT-Joe Gaetjens article in SI
I'll be honest, this is mostly posted here because I know Brian is sympathetic to U.S. Soccer and sports history, but it really is just a fantastic piece of writing in this week's Sports Illustrated from Alex Wolff about Joe Gaetjens, the Haitian immigrant to the U.S. who scored the lone goal in the U.S.'s 1-0 upset of England in the 1950 World Cup in Brazil.
I encourage all of you to read it, especially if you're trying to become versed in soccer before the World Cup this summer. Enjoy!

But seriously, cool article. Much like curling, soccer becomes wildly popular among typically apathetic Americans once every four years. We need a refresher.
...this game was widely considered the biggest upset in US sports history. To give some idea of its significance, from the English perspective this wasn't The Horror, this was losing to Baby Seal U.
