Big Chill at Big House Ticket Dilemma

Submitted by michigandadof4 on

Season hockey ticket holder. Just got my letter indicating I can buy unlimited tickets for the Big Chill. Here's my dilemma. As a general rule, I don't allow fans of the opposing team to use or buy my tickets, but I wan't to have a large group go to the game and invite friends and family to buy tickets if they are interested. A few of them are state fans though.

My thought is to invite all friends and family because it is more important to pack the Big House, than to try and keep a few more spartans fans away. What are others thoughts?

And then send a letter of protest to the athletic department that they're sticking the student hockey ticket holders in the corner, because that is all but certain if you can buy as many as you want of the good seats in the middle.

I think I need to write Dave Brandon a nice long letter asking him to fix a few things. Big Chill seating, and the atrocity of the MGoBlueShop come to mind...

If your friends and family are obnoxious Spartan fans, then forget it. If not, then invite away.

One of my favorite parts about sporting events is "fraternizing with the enemy" as long as the enemy isn't some prick with an axe to grind.

Sit with your friends instead of shooing them to one section. This way the State people can't congregate together and organize cheers as well. If they are interspersed then we can cancel them out.

"As a general rule, I don't allow fans of the opposing team to use or buy my tickets"

I'm going to have to go ahead and +1 you for that. You might be even more of an MGoAsshole than I am. Nicely done.

What makes for a great game atmosphere is to have rival fans near you, preferably in small amounts. There is nothing better than to look at an opposing fan after a great Michigan play/goal/touchdown etc... Yes, I'm an asshole. Also, this is a chance to set a world record, so the more people the better. As of this post, I've already bought 50 tickets.

On a semi-serious note, I wouldn't feel bad not buying tickets for family members that are State fans. You'll see them at Christmas, you don't need to see them at the Big House.

Either way for the game to sell out theres going to have to be alot of State fans. Theres no way 100,000+ Michigan fans are going to go to that game. Ill say there have will be 50,000 state fans for it to sell out. My reasonings include: State has alot more alum and fans that stay in Michigan. With all our out of state students and national academic prestige many more Michigan grads leave the state. I doubt they can get enough UofM people to fly in for it. Also its the weekend before exams so don't count on many of the UofM students going.
