OT: Peter Schrager Mock 3.0 post-Combine Draft

Submitted by umjgheitma on

The top still looks the same with Suh and McCoy going 1 & 2 respectively. Has BG going 22 to the Pats. Interesting that he has the Lions picking up Jonathon Dwyer in the 2nd rnd. with Jahvid Best still on the board. I think Best is a way more dynamic runner and Dwyer had the luxury of being in a run-heavy triple option offense. Not that he can't be a good RB, it's just I believe you can't pick him over Best if he's still available.

Are you really going to draft a left tackle at #5 when you've already overpaid and overrated Brandon Alberts?

I'm also really glad my nickname isn't "Jizz." Oh...Jazz, sorry.

Donovan Warren is not even in the first 3 rounds. I know he didn't help himself in the Combine, but if that is the way draft day shakes out, some team is going to be pretty happy with him as their 4th round or later pick. I just have a feeling Warren is going to be a good CB for many years in the NFL.

I don't think he will be around in the second round. A lot of people are thinking the Chargers will get him in the first round.

Honestly, Warren doesn't belong in the first three rounds. A team may find a steal with him in the late rounds, but he won't start at CB in the NFL, could be a solid nickel guy, and if he moves to Safety it will take him a couple years before he is ready to play.

Bradford is going #1.

Lions shouldn't take RB with second round pick. I know Jones is hurt, but RB depth isn't ever as bad an issue in the NFL as an even marginal O-Line and the D needs much more in the first three rounds then on DT.

My bad. With that being said, they still had two rookie RBs last year and could pick one up as a FA or in a later round. Hopefully Kevin Smith will have his knee returned from oblivion and once again be able to be a serviceable RB in for the Lions as well

PS. did you get your name from a hair dryer?

I just heard Lions are looking for a RB so I commented on that. I think they should take a DL, LB and DB in the first three rounds. Leagues worst defense takes priority over RB when you have a managable one (Kevin Smith) already.

Best has first round talent, but injury concerns, and especially the NFL's newfound emphasis on proper diagnosis and treatment of concussions is going to cause him to slide.

Charles Rogers had first round talent and failed his drug test at the biggest job interview he ever had yet Millen took him second overall. Can you imagine having Megatron and Andre Johnson on the outside? Instead Millen took Rogers despite a failed drug test, at least two kids out of wedlock, having been stabbed by one of his baby mamas, and not having the ability to get off the LOS when being jammed.
