It's Gameday!

Already up and ready to go! Two questions: A) What's in your cup/glass this morning? And 2) How will you spend the time between now and kickoff?

Love it.  I stayed up to watch the Grand Final once (their Super Bowl) until 3:30 AM.

It was an all-time historical one.  It finished in a tie.  Their tiebreaker was . . . to forget the whole thing ever happened and play it all over again the next week!

I remember when ESPN started out and all their programming was novelty stuff like that before they got the big sports league contracts.

You used to be able to see Ivy League football on Saturdays.  Ivy League football sounds cool and romantic, but Ivy League football in the '80s was boring.  They could barely complete a pass.  3rd and 7 was an automatic punt.

Coffee at the moment.  Got some Harvest Patch Shandy in the Fridge for later (still way too hot down here in Fla for a heavier fall beer).  Little guy has baseball practice this morning and oldest boy has his pop warner football game at 12:30.  Be home around 3:00 for beer, pizza and football the rest of the day.

Gonna see if the military cable is going to carry the game. There are 2 possible channels, but I'm not sure what is showing yet. Starts at 01:00.  O/W, may try to find internet-based radio.

In the same boat. My 2 year old suddenly has decided she wants to rise like she's a farmer at 5 am. Coffee for me. Wife works at the hospital all day so I'm in toddler duty for the duration. DVRing the game and ignoring the internet so I can watch it once my daughters in bed for the night. BTW check to see if they'll even open the golf course today. They sometimes close it is the rain is bad since they don't want the vehicles ripping up the grass.

Just docked that boat about a year ago. It gets better. My youngest is 3 1/2 and now sleeps a solid 10 hours or more. She often sleep 8:30-7:00am after 5 straight years of 5am wake ups, between her and her 6 1/2 year old brother.

Sleep has mercifully returned. It will for you too. In the meantime, Godspeed and do what you can to let your wife sleep. I felt your pain.

Right around age 5 or 6, they'll start waking up early on the weekends to watch TV or play video games. But the good news is that there's a very small chance of them killing themselves - or anyone else - during that time, so you don't also have to wake up early.

Biggest risk is finding Cheerios and milk all over your kitchen floor, from a disastrous attempt to make breakfast for themselves.

Yeah actually to clarify, my 2 year old daughter is normally a champion sleeper. Goes down easy at 7-7:30pm and wakes up around 7am happy as a clam. Not yet potty trained but a pretty solid kid. Even knows to say "Go Blue" when sees a block M or a Michigan logo. As for cartoons--I assume with DVRs and on demand things have changed, but now as an adult I realize that those Saturday morning cartoons of Super Friends, GI Joe, etc weren't really for the benefit of the kids but for the PARENTS. Once the kid is around 7-8 years old it seems like they'd have the ability to get themselves up and zone out to some cartoons until 9am or 10am allowing parents to sleep.

Monster to wake up, mow the lawn, my son and I will then go buy Buffalo meat to grill up and feast on Buffalo burgers during the game - just like Harbaugh and Michigan will feast on Buffalo.

... is insulting to CU fans. When I was there for the '97 game (yeah ... you kicked our ass that day) at a postgame party, I had to smile and pretend to be offended while the hosts cooked up Buffalo Burgers. Guess what? They were delicious. And also guess what .... we here in Colorado love our buffalo meat. You think that Texas fans would be insulted if you grilled beef ribeyes after a game with them, since after all Bevo represents the original mass source of American beef, the Longhorn.

Also you might want to know that the last two incarnations of "Ralphie" (only the greatest live mascot in college football) both came via the generosity of Ted Turner, who is probably the largest provider of buffalo meat in the nation via his several ranches that raise buffaloes.

But I do realize that it's all in good fun. Here's to looking forward to a hard  fought contest today, with no serious injuries to anyone on either team.

And in keeping with those sentiments ... GO BUFFS!

And Go Blue ... after today of course. :)

It's not an insult. Just a themed meal for the opponent, especially for non conference opponents we don't see every year (or every 6 years, in Wisconsin's case).

For Hawaii we had leis and tiki torches and served tropical drinks and roasted pork.

I couldn't attend UCF so no tailgate, but it would've been citrus-themed if I had.

Since playing Wisconsin is a rare event in the post-ten Big Ten, I'm guessing my crew will do a Wisconsin-themed tailgate - brats, cheese curds maybe, etc.

Anything? Well, uh I guess I, deep down, am feeling a little confused. I mean, suddenly, you get married, and you're supposed to be this entirely different guy. I don't feel different. I mean, take yesterday for example. We were out at the Olive Garden for dinner, which was lovely. And, uh, I happened to look over at a certain point during the meal and see a waitress taking an order, and I found myself wondering what color her underpants might be. Her panties. Uh, odds are they are probably basic white, cotton, underpants. But I sort of think, well, maybe they're silk panties, maybe it's a thong. Maybe it's something really cool that I don't even know about. You know, and uh, and I started feeling... what? What, I thought we were in the trust tree in the nest, were we not?

Just downed a shot of lemon juice in my water. Now I'm balanced and ready to take on some Founders and chili cheese buffalo burgers.

In addition to all the great games today I'll be checking in on former and future opponents.
