Huge Thank you to the MGoBlog Community.

First off Thank you all for the support and encouragement. This Saturday was an awesome day.

We started off our Saturday at Almedinger Park tailgating with some friends and their families, the first dillema this morning at 8:30 was no one remembered to bring a football, so off to the MDEN tent we go. Half and hour later, we return to the park, the boys were outfitted properly for a football game, sporting new Nike Jumpman shirts, and toting a brand new football. Many games of takle football were played and lots of food consumed.

We then made our way to the stadium and because of this boards generosity had some fantasitc seats! Seeing the boys wide eyed and enthused watching the A-10's flyover was awesome. Then the game started, and Michigan scored and scored again. Watching touchdowns makes young boys hungry, so we grabbed some Popcorn and pretzels and sodas to wash it all down. Then Michigan scored some more and the boys leaned the fight song!

Halftime greeted us with trip to the Carvel Ice cream woman who kept the boys nicely sugared up for the second half grind. The boys thououghtly enjoyed thier day, Thanks to the fine and OUTSTANDING MGoBlog Community. We made out way back to the car and headed home. Walked in the door and handed the boys Mom $400 in cash. My wife promptly gathered up the young girls and took them to the movies, I mean the Girls need something to right?

All in all we raised just over $500 for this family. Plus tickets and a Saturday they will not soon forget.

THANK YOU SO MUCH MGOBLOG FAMILY!

Respecfully,

Paul Rochefort.

* Oh and it was Military appreciation as well, So thank you to our Vets on this board. I did 14 years in the Army and it is always humbling to see so many people respect out Vets.

Can someone give a 3-sentence background to this story for those of us who missed the early thread or the origin of this?  It sounds like the MGoCommunity donated to help a family attend a game?

One of Paul's wife's coworkers or friends showed up at their house with kids in tow. Victim of domestic abuse and he and his wife took them in and their living in their basement temporarily. Paul had two tix for the game today but was looking to exchange them for 4 so he could take the boys. Yadda yadda yadda this community generously took up for the cause and we funded the day. Overwhelming pride in the generosity of the MGoCommunity.

I worked there for some time, it is law students that help to look at the situation and file any and all legal documents required, initially protect the family and then to initiate separation and divorce proceedings and they had really good resources on places they could go where they could stay and be safe.

I had a work-study job there in undergard and my job was to interview the women who came in to get a history of the abuse and then to take care of any children when they went to talk with the law students or attorney. I left work most days wanting to hunt some guy(s) down and bury them. Probably the most eye-opening job I have ever had.

Good luck and nicely done.

As a fan from another country I feel sad I couldn't help out but it does really bring a tear to my eye to see all the support you guys got. I'd like to chip in with at least a Go Blue and an recognition to this board, guys I couldn't attend the University of Michigan but I'm impressed, you guys bring out the best of humanity and fraternity and I couldn't be proudest of cheering for this team.
