As much as I would like to support my home team, this is the Lions M.O. - 50+ years of utter incompetence, futility, and stupid decisions.

Actually this is probably the best thing for Jake as hopefully a professionally run organization (Steelers, Pats, Ravens) will pick him up and he WILL one day be their starter.

No NFL team is going to bring in a rookie who doesn't know their system and have him take over a roster spot on their team. I will say by mid-season though the Lions will have Rudock on their roster as the risk of exposing him to a rebuilding franchise thats' given up on their seasons would be just too great.

As I've said before. 50 years. Grand total of of 1 playoff victory. Very sad. As far as Rudock even if he does not catch on with another team I'm sure he will end up coaching somewhere or be successfull outside of football. Just too hard working and smart not to succeed.

I hate the on-field product. The rules have gotten so offense-friendly that it lacks any drama. Last team with the ball wins. No reason to care before the 4th quarter because no lead is safe. I'm also seemingly the one guy in the world who isn't excited when the ball is in the air.

The NFL is better than CFB IMO because of the "any given Sunday" factor where most games are decided by one possession.

While CFB may have better big games during the year but the excitement levels isn't as good from a game to game when some teams are double digit favorites in 80% of their games.

Until CFB does a better job leveling the playing field giving so more than 20% of their teams have a chance to one day be the best team in their sport, than it will always lag behind.

Personally I want to see the best players in the world performing at the highest levels and there's a big difference between the two here when one sport votes on Tim Tebow as their best player and the other won't even hire him.

That's certainly true. NFL players are amazing. They almost never make mistakes, and if they get beat it is because the other guy was just better on that play. It's stunning, really. But it's not for me. Plus, the college game has a personal draw for me. I'm literally more interested in Michigan's left guard's first step during play 32 of a Septmeber non-conference game than the outcome of the Super Bowl. I know this makes me the weird one.

I stopped around 8 years ago and have never been happier on Sundays. I have no idea what's happening in the NFL, but I'll still watch the Super Bowl. 

Sadly, when I was a kid - I would listen to the legendary Art Regner meltdowns/rants after Lions games and could not understand the people who would call in and say they were going to stop being Lions fans. Turns out when you get older, it's easier than I thought it would be to stop watching - especially for me as I no longer live in Michigan.

You mean Quinn, the GM has a lot more say on who's making his team than the head coach. Plus no NFL team is entrusting their 2nd string job to a 6th round rookie QB. The starting QB needs a veteran set of eyes out there on the field and Stafford has said numerous times how much he likes what Orlovsky brings.

Rudock will be 2nd string QB for the Lions next year. Just being groomed for it right now.

Dan Orloskdvssky is ten years older and nothing special. Jake looked pretty good against Bills backups. I'd have kept him. And didnt the Lions have Staff, Dan O, and Kellen Moore the last few years? Why only 2 now.

he's not going anywhere other than to the Lions PS. No team is going to pick up a rookie QB a week before the season starts, take up a roster spot with him when he doesn't even know their offense. 

He's destined to play out his rookie contract (4 years) as the Lions backup QB.

and is nowhere near at the level many think. Actually pretty impressive considering how late he was taken in the draft and never really being a starter either. 

I'm a big fan of Jake Rudock but I think the chances of him playing even half that amount time in professional football is going to be very difficult.

This is good for Jake. He has looked good this preseason. I hope he goes to a good organization and doesnt sign with the Lions to be on their practice squad . Let the Lions suffer with Orlovsky

What a dysfunctional organization. I'll always root for them but they certainly make it hard sometimes. In what world does Orlovsky, a hardly capable backup at best, provide more upside than Rudock. Rollinggg down the fiellddddd Another three and out we will yieldddddd

in fact it's the other way around as about 70-75% of the time an NFL team will keep their drafted late round (5th-7th) QB in his rookie season on their regular season roster.

Add that in with the fact Rudock had the 2nd best QB rating among all rookie QB's in NFL preseason games this year and it made the decision to cut him unexpected.
