OT: Saturday Prem League

Is Hull City this year's cinderella? Definitely WAY too early to speculate, but 2 wins/0 losses after the first couple games is very impressive for a team that just came up to the big league.

Hull still needs to add several players if they want to stay up. They have absolutely no depth right now. Long season will see them slide down week by week if no quality players are brought in.

But these 6 points could be huge for them come season's end.

They're still most likely team to go down IMO, but nobody is looking atrocious so far this season.

I think Arsenal from 15 years ago would absolutely handle todays Arsenal. They should've hired Klopp before Liverpool did. New season, same problems, likely to the same result. Every other team had their transfers sorted out months ago and we're shopping the bargain bin at the deadline, again, because the best deal matters more than the best player, and possesion is more important than goals, for some reason.

The feeling, to me, is exactly the same as Carr or Mack Brown. Great championship managers that were great guys, but after a while it was obvious they had stayed too long. I still knew Michigan could win every game near the end of the Carr years, but his teams performances left me banging my head against the coffee table shouting "wtf is happening here?" about a third of the time. That's what it's like to be an Arsenal fan right now.

What a wonderful Matchday 2 so far, caught the United game yesterday, after I got off work early. Woke up and half slept through the 6:30 game this morning, caught three of the 9:00 games on my two tvs and laptop, then napped through both the Arsenal and Barca in the 11 hour

My Everton club got a nice win. It was nice to see some new signings make some noise plus a young kid Holgate played lights out. If they make a few more signings top six is obtainable!

Man City looks like they are adapting well to Pep's tactics. So much more intense out there than the last year or 2. Can't wait to see sane and gundogan and Gabriel Jesus when he arrives. So far though, so good. Going to stoke and getting a 4-1 win was nice. Sterling looks rejuvenated. I was cautiously optimistic before the season but I think man united and city are favorites. We need kompany back, but the defense is more organized. I don't think the derby in a few weeks will tell us a ton, but it will be an important matchup.

Having watched Sterling for a few years before we sold him to City, I see the same problems with him... he is great in the first 95% of the field, but he lets himself down too often with his final touch/idea. If he could just get his head up and make the right pass/ shot based on the situation, he would be incredible. Maybe he will get that intelligence, he's young, and he has started strong, but he is just missing that killer edge right now.

Also, when Kompany is back, do you sit Stones or Otamendi?

I would agree about Sterling, but I think he could get the most out of being coached by Pep. He looks very confident and has been involved in a few goals already in the first few games. Pep likes him a lot, so I think he will develop his game in the next few years. Navas has the same problem but is less skilled than Sterling. If he could ever figure out the final third, he would amazing. I think the more guys healthy the better, but I would rotate with Stones playing in the more important games. Kompany will probably need rest through the season, so having those guys in the rotation is good. We have a ton of options, especially when everyone is healthy, a lot of fixtures and the young players will get chances to play.
