GO BLUE!I

included a couple early games for Hawaii, UCF and Colorado in case anyone wants to check out those teams before we play them. Also, September 17 looks like a great day to cancel everything and OD on some FOOTBAUGH. There will be schadenfreude o'plenty with OSU, MSU, ND and Oklahoma mixing it up on the gridiron. Feel free to add other games or make comment.

Lets look at what makes college football great.

Passionate local fans

Students

Unique campuses/cities

In most cases well over 100 years of varied traditions

What do they do?

move the venue to a faceless genera-dome

in some large city sourounded  by 16 square miles of parking lot

set prices so that only semi-engaged corporate clients can afford the travel/room/tickets

pay the schools less than they would have made in a home & home arrangement

profit! I guess?

Maybe I'm the only one, but I don't see that being all that good of a game. Auburn wasn't very good last year, and I don't think they'll be very good this year either. Clemson's gonna end up winning that game by 14+ I think.

Auburn has no QB, their top 3 rushers and top 2 receivers from last year are gone. Carl Lawson is really fantastic on D, and Auburn could give Watson and company some trouble, but they don't really have the offensive firepower to test Clemson's almost brand new defense.

Auburn is a bit of a wild card at this point. Gus Malzahn has a pretty good offensive mind and is also good at developing quarterbacks for his system. He took former db  Nick Marshall and made him a servicable qb. Auburn recruits well so there won't be a huge talent gap on the field. Just because they weren't very good last year does not mean they will suck again this year.

Wow there's a lot of potential for some top teams to cannibalize each other while we skip along to some 40 point wins.  If Oklahoma wins I'll be happy with whatever else happens though.

Because of my hatred for all things SEC, my dream result list for the 1st week would have the following: Bama loses to USC, LSU loses to Wisky, Auburn loses to Clem, TAMU loses to UCLA, Ole Miss loses to FSU. Out of those only 2 seem unlikely. Then Michigan comes out of the gate clobbering people, OSU loses to Oklahoma and ND slams MSU. I'm really not one of these people who want our opponents to go undefeated save for our matchup. If Michigan is rolling we will make the playoff regardless if the B1G has a down year. Screw our rivals and screw the SEC. (Drops mic)

Sparty got a big break overnight, as NDs starting safety and 4 other players (no idea if they're contributors) were arrested on weapons and marijuana charges

Lots of people here would rather see MSU (or OSU) lose than see Michigan win.  I'm hoping they regain their senses after Michigan wins a few in a row in those series.  This place is more fun when we don't have so many crazy people posting.

The first weekend has to be the best ever with so many great matchups.  I'm looking forward to all of the big games but the ones that are getting my attention most are Bama/USC, Ole Miss/FSU, and ND/Texas.  Really curious to see how Texas looks after finishing strong last year. I'm sure most of us will be pulling hard for the Horns in week one.

lol someone asked to see this list? More outsourcing Google searches, I see. OP, you are quite generous.

I've been on the board plenty, but this week I finished up the biggest, nastiest project of the year at work, so I haven't felt like I can afford to pay very much attention. Now that it's done, I'm so ridorkulously pumped for football I may just pee myself. We get to see real LIVE college football in 6 (SIX!) days.

Don't forget Kansas State vs Stanford on Friday 9/2. Not a great lineup on Thursday 9/1, probably the worst in years. Will most likely go with Oregon State vs Minnesota

Too many neutral site games. It puts a damper on the game IMO. I'd much rather see LSU have to travel to Camp Randall and Ole Miss play at FSU, etc.
