Which game would be better to go to PSU or Wisconsin?
Good Morning,
So, I want to bring my family to the best home game on our schedule this year. Hopefully so they can be part of a fully packed stadium and electric crowd. The only problem is I don't know what game would be best.
Wisconsin might come in with 1-2 losses and that might deflate any hype for the game. Penn State might be undefeated or have 1 loss but we have been playing them and Wisconsin just returned to our schedule after a few years of haitus.
What do you guys think would be the best game to go to?
Also the prices in tickets are about the same. I plan on spending $180 on each ticket as of today. But maybe the ticket prices will drop?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

We should be 4-0 and this will be the first real test. The atmosphere for this game will be fantastic!
Wisky should be 3-1 after losing to LSU in the opener, but coming off a win over Sparty before heading to the Big House.

Although I've been to Wisky when they played San Jose St. (or San Diego State not sure which) - and the experience was unbelieveable.
They were playing a nobody and the place was rocking and swaying with all the noise and pounding.
The song Jump Around and the audience's reaction to it (predictably to Jump Around) literally made it feel as if the stadium was going to collapse.

That's what I'm hoping for. Close call between PSU and Wisky but I think Wisky will be the better game and more satisfying victory.

Wisconsin.
Fuck Penn State and their delusional cult of personality, predator enabling, fanbase.

This.

Better program right now in my eyes, psu's assbaggery notwithstanding.

The only pro to going to Wisconsin, like you said, is we haven't played them in forever. If you've seen UM play Penn St recently, I'd pick Wisconsin. But if you haven't seem Michigan play either in some time, then go with Penn St. Nothing better than hearing "We own Penn St" chants echo through the stadium.

I was just searching for this recently... Has any more come of the rumor that Penn State might be a night game? If it is a night game, I can probably go and would plan on it. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it to a day game.
August 11th, 2016 at 10:41 AM ^
Pretty sure it's already been announced that there will be no home night games this year.
August 11th, 2016 at 10:44 AM ^
I thought I'd heard that report/rumor, but wan't sure. Thanks for the info.

Wisconsin as we haven't played them in SIX YEARS.
So much has happened since then....
And then we play them at their place next year for the first time in 8 years.

Penn State will probably be a slightly better team than Wisconsin but Wisconsin will probably be the better environment since we haven't seen them in so long.
August 11th, 2016 at 9:53 AM ^
1. We haven't played them since 1984.
2. Their fans aren't in love with a corpse that enabled a pederast for 30 years.

Exactly on point #2, point #1 is good also. So tired of those fucks who still worship and dress like that pedophile enabling pos!
BTW, FUCK penn state and all their delusional joepa loving fans!!!

Here's some more of their idolotry for pedophile enabler...
Prior to the statue being removed:
And just to remind everybody...
Worth saying again: "BTW, FUCK penn state and all their delusional joepa loving fans!!!"

We shouldn't play Wisconsin until we beat MSU and OSU.

Haven't played them since 2010 is important to note.

Yes, thank you for highlighting what was clever about his post for the rest of us. Do you shout out the punchlines to jokes during a comic's stand-up routine as well? Because that's fun too.

You see, 7 ate nine because that's where they fall in numerical order. 7 8 9. That's why 6 is afraid of 7.

+1

They will drop. Especially if Wisky comes in at 2-2. Either way, they will always come down closer to game time.

Night game as one of my few road trips to see Michigan. Actually went on my 21st birthday with someone else. I don't remember a time where we were treated more horribly in my entire life. The fans were cussing us out, getting in our face, flicking us off, etc. And honestly, we were just walking down the street in the campus wearing our Michigan gear not saying a single word to anyone.
After the game was over, I had to pee so bad and went in one of the porta-johns in the grass tailgaiting area. There was toilet paper and human waste literally stacked 5 feet short of the ceiling (and that's not an exaggeration). We sat in traffic for about 2 hours until we got to the hotel at around 3 AM.
Remember clear as day sitting in the upper section with a block of Michigan fans, and one of the guys got a text from his dad that Magglio just hit the walk off to get the Tigers to the WS. It was a really fantastic trip because of the game and just hanging out, but the fan treatment of us was pathetic.
Edit: Penn State is home. But what I said still stands.
August 11th, 2016 at 10:36 AM ^
I was at that game.. their fans tore a bench out of their section in the big house
August 11th, 2016 at 6:32 PM ^
I was at that tiger game and recorded the Michigan game and no one ruined it for us. It was one of the funniest nights ever (walk off HR in the playoffs followed by a UM win against PSU with no commercials).

Penn State game has a better chance of being packed because their fans travel and believe they're still good.

Wisconsin travels as well as anyone in college football, so......

Wiscy does "travel" great, especially to Michigan. When the hockey team lost to Wiscy in the NCAA finals at Olympia in 1977, there were more Wiscy fans there than Michigan fans. I know it's "apples and oranges," but they certainly travel well.
August 11th, 2016 at 10:41 AM ^
.. but what is this based on? I know Iowa travels well and I have heard the same about PSU and other schools. I think Michigan travels well too.
Of course, there is a difference between traveling well for bowl games versus conference games, but I have never heard that about WIsco. (I have been to a handful of Wisco games and I have been to a game in Madison, but never noticed or heard this,)
August 11th, 2016 at 10:49 AM ^
I have been to several Wisconsin games in the big house, Iowa as well, I feel as though Wisconsin traveled better than anyone, minus Ohio State in a few of the dark years. Their bowl travel is notorious.

I think Wisco travels about the same as Iowa. They have a diehard core base, but not that many "local alums" and/or casual fans. But, compared to PSU, they are a small school. PSU is a school with a richer football tradition and identity (shown by their unbelievable denials about JoePa to this day). They also have a HUGE university system with many more students than Wisco. I think they have a larger Metro Detroit-based alumni network too
I have been to many games in AA with both schools and I think PSU has a better following for road games. (OSU is tops and MSU is now number 2, ND is up near MSU, then PSU, Iowa/Wisco after that....)
NOW, with respect to bowl games, I think Wisco might give them a run for their money (Iowa too). But I think that is because Iowa and Wisco are harsher climates in the winter with less to do than people on the East Coast.
It would be interesting to see someone do a deep analysis....
August 11th, 2016 at 10:42 AM ^
Disagree. Penn State is not good at all. The only that kept them afloat last year was their dl which has now left the program.
August 11th, 2016 at 11:57 AM ^
I hear you. But a lot of people - including our fearless bearded leader - are calling for PSU to have a good season. I don't get it, but I'm pretty sure Brian Cook knows more about B1G football than I do.
August 11th, 2016 at 10:07 AM ^
I wouldn't take my kids to the Penn State game, but only because I hate that team/school/fanbase so much that I'd be worried about getting into it with their delusional piece of shit fans

Wisky fans are alot like Michigan fans for what it's worth. And I think the Wisconsin game will be better for some reason..maybe cause we haven't played them in a bit. Although there is some appeal in watching James Franklin get crushed.
August 11th, 2016 at 10:57 AM ^
I know a lot of wisconsin fans, and they are nothing like the typical Michigan fan, at least in my experience.
August 11th, 2016 at 3:16 PM ^
Wisconsin alums/students are more similar to Michigan alums/students than probably any other Big Ten school. I mean definitely still differences, but they are the closest public school to us academically and also come from a spectacular college town.
August 11th, 2016 at 10:16 AM ^
I wouldn't take it for granted psu has a better shot of coming in undefeated than wisconsin. Think there is about a 50/50 shot they lose at pitt and Temple won't be as good as last year but it won't be a cake walk either.
I'm going to the wisconsin game personally as my game in AA this year.
August 11th, 2016 at 10:18 AM ^
I think Pitt beats them too.
August 11th, 2016 at 10:33 AM ^
I think PSU is set up for a rebound year. They will be undefeated.
August 11th, 2016 at 12:03 PM ^
I don't know. They have to replace and NFL draft pick at QB with a guy who hasn't played a lick of college football and one of the best DLs in college football. I don't see how they'll be better this year than they were last year.
Hackenberg had his weaknesses for sure, but he was a big, tough, strong armed kid who bailed them out of a lot of stuff many couldn't have. With a lesser QB last year they would have gotten rocked (even more than they did). And they had that amazing DL keeping games close. That was an equalizer. I just don't see what gets them there this year.
August 11th, 2016 at 12:59 PM ^
Hackenberg had a ot of great talent It may not have been developed well, but I think the single biggest thing affecting him and the whole PSU season was --- disgustingly poor OL play.
They didn't just suck, they were terrible.
They got a new OL coach (one of the best coaches on Jerry Kill's Staff AFAIK) and they have guys coming into being their upperclassmen years (when changes can start taking hold). If they get the OL better, they will have a much better offense regardless of QB play.
They are always stout on defense and should remain so.
I am not saying they will win the Big Ten East or anything. They will likely look better than last year though.
August 11th, 2016 at 1:26 PM ^
They will be a 7-5 team at best. Maybe 8-4.
