at the bottom? No more loyalty to the Motor City and the American automobile industry? Corporate "partners" are nice, but there's a time and place for such relationships; I do not believe this is appropriate.

To come to his defense, I think the crux of his argument was more "buy local" than "screw foreigners."  Honda is huge in Columbus, and they sponsor everything in the region.  Ann Arbor happens to be in the centered in the heart or American autos.  If he suggested the Dodgers not take sponsorship deals from Hyundai, that's a whole different suggestion.  I think you guys took that comment and ran with it a bit.

Hyundai has a large tech center in Washtenaw County. I know several people who work there. From that perspective, I'd say Hyundai is very local for U of M.

Toyota also has a large research facility in Washtenaw. If any of the Big Three have similar facilities in the area, I'm not aware of them.

Does it also irk you that the Big 3 apparently aren't interested in spending the money required to have this sponsorship? All of you are acting like Warde is hand picking foreign companies for this. Maybe Ford has no desire to sponsor Michigan football because everyone in southeast Michigan is already onboard with buying from the Big 3 whereas Hyundai is interested in advertising in SE Michigan to improve their marketshare. This is advertising / marketing, not feelingsball
