White pants for road games permanently: your thoughts?

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

I'm a big fan of the white pants on the road.

And Harbaugh said today that they're gonna be permanent, as opposed to a one year deal which it was supposed to be.

Harbaugh says the white pants on the road will be a permanent thing. He's a fan of that.

So this is a postmortem for the Maize pants on the road, if you will.

Aside from that small block of the mid-70s and last year, we have worn Maize pants on the road literally since Maize pants were first introduced to the uniform back in the 1930s.

I've gotten so used to the white pants that it almost feels weird when I see Maize pants on white jerseys from practice shirts. It also probably gives me a more favorable view since we went undefeated in B1G road games last year for the first time since 1997.

Not to mention winning a bowl game by 34 against an SEC division winner in their own state.

Are you happy about the white pants staying? Will you miss the Maize pants?

I love how they look, but I also think the maize would look amazing with the current setup. Ideally they'd rotate, mainly white with maize as an alternate (Maybe throw in a blue at home too). But, the white pants probably are my favorite and represent a new era of Michigan Football.

Someone brought this up in another thread, and I think it's a great point: The current away uniforms look exactly like the Cazzie-era Basketball uniforms. Based on that collar we saw of the basketball uniform, it looks like it may be similar to that era. That uniformity is great.

We didn't wear Maize jerseys that year. That myth sprouted from that goofy painting of our uniform history from the 2000s.

There were Maize jerseys in practice that year. The only time we wore Maize jerseys was in 1928 against Navy. We played at Navy, and they wanted to wear their Blues with gold numerals.

So we had Maize jerseys made with Maize pants and were said to have looked like canaries.

I like it.  I like the stripes on the sides too.  In fact, I prefer the road uniforms to the home uniforms.  I know it may be blasphemous but it's just my opinion.

Even if you call it yellow, it's still far more rare for teams to wear yellow pants than white. In any case, I like it when teams show off what makes them unique. I'd rather Clemson wear purple than orange - there are lots of schools with orange. I think it's silly when UCLA wears black - no one else uses their shade of blue. And I like when we wear maize. It's our color.

those are still my two favorite road unis, but i dont think it would look the same now with the small sleeves and smaller pads.

but as long as they win, they can wear them backwards and inside out and I won't care (though the fit and look may not go over well with players or fans). I just grew up on the maize pants look. Doubt the white pants will affect performance. Perhaps someone will conduct a study to determine its effect.

Win on October 29th and the uniforms could be fucking Puma or Asics with maize jerseys and maize pants.
