That's pretty cool. They should have long time game workers or long time fans be honorary captains for a game. That would be great way to show respect to the people who make game day at Michigan so fabulous.

Sadly, Dave Brandon would have passed that along in his stool.

I like it though.  I always enjoy when they have the long-time employees line up in the endzone.  I spent way too many years on the field talking with Tony and Al, two of the guys who worked the field area around the marching band.

That just reminded me of the story from Brandon's Lasting Lessons where Brandon's policy of not letting folks down on the field basically forces former AD Bill Martin and uber donor Stephen Ross to walk around the stadium instead of taking the shorcut through field.

I don't care who's in charge - if a guy gives $200 million or is a former AD, let them walk on the freaking grass.

And let me just add that any rule like that just sucks ass.  I have a very fond remembrance of walking around on the field after Bo's last game.  Great times!  But I would also like to bring the TP streams back after touchdowns.  Quite a sight to see the student endzone totally TP'd, like Devil's Night!!

Took my GF to A2 in December while home for the holidays.  She went to a small school and wanted to know what this "Michigan thing" was all about.  It's a shame the stadium is locked up now.  When I was an undergrad, there was always one gate open on weekdays.

When I was there the place was totally open in the winter and we use to grab cafeteria trays and sled down the aisles when the snow pack got high enough and then out onto the field.

That tartan turf was as hard as a rock in the fall - in the winter that baby made ice look soft and cuddly.

but I should DEFINITELY be the honorary captain for every home game.

Well, almost; I would love to see Judge Judy as a captain because woah, that's amazing.

Seriously, though, it should be Alumni, "support" staff, and maybe the occasional celebrity (You don't say no to Jordan), that's it.

I'm not PC or a libtard or anything but just think about what Round Up is... (not you per se, just saying in general)... it's literally Agent Orange.  My father was in Viet Nam and he's fucked up from the stuff.

Kids over there, 40 years later, are still suffering from birth defects.

Monsanto modifies the genes of crops so that they are immune to Round Up and then farmers soak their fields in it to kill everything but the crops.

That shit gets into the water table too.

We drink it and eat it on a daily basis and cannot get away from it.

I have the nicest yard on the block... it's never seen chemical anything.  I pull weeds with a popup tool and fertilize with dried chicken waste and chelated iron.

I hear you man. Sorry for your father and thanks to him for his service. I hadn't used the stuff prior to this past summer. My wife has been on a real organic kick for the last few months for us and our kids trying to avoid hormones, antibiotics, etc... Shit with all the cancer incidence data, something is doing it. And no, I am not eating fricking chia seeds and organic flax seed pancakes everyday - a man needs a ribeye every couple of days (everyday would be optimal).

But, she had absolutely no reservations about buying 5 bottles of that stuff this spring so we could clean up our back deck and patio. I can't wait to get home and read her the riot act! Thanks for the ammo!
