OT: Pokemon GO launches
So, the much delayed and anticipated Pokemon GO launched in the US the other day. Let your inner-kid rejoice.
Despite several glaring issues: battery drain, server crashes, etc., it looks to be trending really high on social media. I'll assume I'm not the only who has noticed random people running all over town trying to catch Pokemon.
For those of you not aware, Nintendo and Niantic, Inc launched this free app to catch Pokemon in real-life using a smartphone and its GPS and camera. Works of art generally serve as stations to gather supplies and points of interest serve as gyms to hold and defend gyms.
I'm currently not in AA, but was wondering what has been turned into gyms and Pokestations across campus? Sadly you can only see your immediate surrounding area and not scroll to different parts of the country to look.

There's a number of flaws, server issues most notably, but I've been enjoying the hell out of this thing so far. Anything that is going to encourage kids (and adults) to get out and move and explore and maybe learn something about their city, I'm in.
Also, a number of breweries near me in San Diego are gyms, and I'm gonna conquer them all or get drunk trying.
but don't forget that Ogre converted to Nerdism in the end!

I've ben pretty pissed with Nintendo for a while now, and this one is just another straw to throw on the pile.
I was actually looking forward to this, and then I went to download, and oops, sorry, we didn't bother making an x86 version for people like you who have a Zenfone 2.
I have never had this problem before. Every single app I've ever wanted, be it a large, multi-gigbyte mobile game or a simple utility app has rupported both ARM and x86 without issue, but somehow a multi-billion dollar company like Nintendo can't be bothered.
Same reason they can't be bothered to release a console with decent hardware and either no or completly optional gimmicks I guess.

It's actually a lot of fun for people who grew up with the games and wanted to be real pokemon trainors. Also, its having a great effect health wise as a lot more people are walking around trying to find pokemon. I've read loads of stories of people walking 3 miles without realizing that they had.

I've had it for a couple days now (sideloaded the Aussie/NZ APK, then got the official US one over the Play Store).
10/10, it has bugs and needs work on some features, but I absolutely love it.

Walking is overrated. I've found a couple of ways around it. It just sits at my desk and pokemon are randomly appearing. So far, I also just carry it in my pocket when walking places. The phone vibrates when a pokemon gets to close and I capture it. Don't need to walk around looking at the screen.

Agreed. Unless you have a job that matters, the 40 hour work-week in professional settings is a joke. Programmers will still compile code, 3D printers will still print, and the Corvette paint job will still look like shit whether you goof off 10 hours a week at work or at home.
But the Pokemon would not be included
