Semi-OT: Tim Sullivan to Hokie Haven

Submitted by Magnus on

Former Varsity Blue, MGoBlog, and The Wolverine writer Tim Sullivan announced on Twitter that he's the new editor of Hokie Haven, which is obviously devoted to Virginia Tech football and recruiting.

Him and Spath were fired after Stu Coman read there company issued emails. Tim and Spath were talking crap about stu. He actually fired Brandon Brown to but Brandon was able to save his job after showing Stu he had nothing to do with what Tim and Spath were saying.

I have often wondered what kind of money people at any of those sites make (including The Wolverine, TMI, etc.). I have a hard time believing the sites produce enough revenue to employ multiple people full-time, but I've never dug into it much.

I don't think much. I know the guy who runs the UNC 247 site. Friend of my old roommate so we've hung out several times. Good guy, we chatted for bit. He works it mostly by himself and occasionally hires part time writing and site design/maintenance help but no full time staff other than himself. No joke he packed himself pb & j's and tuna cans to eat while he crashed on my coach to cover a UNC bball game in NYC last year. He said he doesn't make much, maybe around 30k and said he's gotta figure out how to drive more site traffic and paid subscribers. I guess it's a labor of love.

Stopped in Princeton once on a drive back to NYC from Philly. The resident New Jersey-ite in the car insisted we go to Hoagie Haven. Best decision ever. That place

I live in Princeton area. Hoagie Haven is the bomb and if you like coffee stop at Small World and at their Nassau street location their breakfast sandwiches are the bomb. It's my daily stop.

I heard they were looking for another person so they could fill both spots (Spath, Sullivan), but Brandon Justice was hired at the end of May (IIRC) and no word on anyone else. They seem to be churning out a lot of content, so I don't know if another person is necessary.

No big deal. I hear we cooled on him signficantly and coaches had cut off most communication with him because they felt good about where we stood with several 5* recruitniks.

site has gone down hill the last couple of years. I finally ended my subscription with them 6-8 months ago and don't plan on ever going back. I found most of the mods on that site as being self centered, pompus asses.
