Nike launch festivities to take place, per Warde

Something that was speculated on back when the announcement came last year.

Don't be surprised if it's a big reveal fashion show. Schools like Army and Tennessee have done this in recent years. Tennessee's was after they left adidas for Nike.

This info came from an interview after he presented the U-M budget for FY 2017 to the Regents. Part of that plan includes a possible roof replacement at Oosterbaan Field House and a new turf field there.

Michigan’s teams will transition to Nike apparel beginning Aug. 1, and Manuel said there will be some festivities surrounding that launch. But he wasn’t ready to reveal what those might be.

“We will be inclusive (with fans) as best we can, but we will have some special things around the announcement,” Manuel said. “But now we’re very supportive and very thankful to Adidas for our relationship with them and we look forward to our relationship with Nike.”

No official date set and email invitations have not been sent out yet. Expecting it to be July 28 or 29. edit: Last year it was combined with youth day and meeting the team. So, maybe that is what Warde is referring to when he mentions the fans.

Why? The place needs to go. It sticks out like a sore thumb next to the Glick.

I was hoping they would get rid of it and build a new museum/weight room in it's place. Speaking of weight room... any news on that front?

I said this from Day 1...it's just how it goes. Michigan isn't going to be "above" it. Just turn your head or turn off your computer that day if you don't like it.

They're going to go ALL OUT.

Then the dust will settle, we'll be a Nike school and we'll start or continue kicking ass.

...not that big of a deal.
