Mason was a hell of a coach and deservedly an MSU legend. All the best to his family, and condolences on their loss.
Very sad. The 1990s were a fun time for UM-MSU hockey, and Mason more than held up his end of the bargain. RIP.
Great coach! Wish the family all the best in these difficult times.
he was a heck of a coach, just look how the program has fallen off since he left. RIP.
The 90's and very early 2000's were a great time for the Michigan-MSU Hockey rivalry. Mason was one heck of a coach, and was hired to do a lot when he became AD.
with NCAA championships at two of them. That's damn good.
On a couple of occasions. Very nice man, great coach. RIP
Man we have lost some big names recently. He was a great coach.
It's sad that he had to see his program diminish the way it did in his last few years. He deserved better than that... RIP, Mr Mason.
Was always impressed with what he did with MSU's hockey program. I remember a couple matchups between UM/MSU at the GLI that were always hard fought affairs. My condolences to his family, friends and yes, the MSU hockey community.
Great man, great coach, and great for the Big 10. A rare instance of a Spartan I actually liked. RIP Coach Mason

Those games vs. MSU in the late 80's-90's were among the most intense hockey games I have seen in person. RIP to a great coach.

My heart and prayers go out to his family & friends. In 2001 I was at the Great Lakes Tourney too bad it wasn't MSU VS Michigan Championship Game.
