OT - Your All-Time Favorite Movie is.....?
Mates,
I haven't been to a movie in years and can't tell you the last one I did see in a theatre. However, oldest son asked me to take him to see 'Captain America - Civil War' as a birthday gift since his birthday was last week and we just got back. He enjoyed it so I'm glad, but I must admit that I'm too old to really enjoy those types of films much, but also that they did have a few good one-liners mixed in toward the end of the flick.
I am adding a link here to the highest box office grossing films, which was a discussion we had on the way home. I was surprised to see how many titles that I had neither seen nor heard of : http://www.the-numbers.com/movie/records/All-Time-Worldwide-Box-Office
So, with a nod to the Monday thread about favorite war movies, what are the Mgobloggers all-time favorite movies?
EDIT: Should've done it by decade. Just looking at the 80's you have a boatload of classics: Lethal Weapon, Beverly Hills Cop, Top Gun, Caddyshack, Field of Dreams, and on...
Have a great weekend, Looks like Lake Michigan is warm enough to swim in, so might try that tomorrow with the sons.

So many movies for sure. But gun to my head its Goodfellas.
Drama: Good Will Hunting or The Departed
Comedy: Trading Places or Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Documentary: Citizenfour or Amy
Edit: Not sure what this makes it, but for some reason Hitch always makes me feel better no matter how shitty of a day it is.
The name rings a bell but I'm not in a position to go looking for a few minutes. Guessing it's good?
about updating the mgoprofiles....

"Goonies" is an amazing movie. I watched it again three days ago (after trying to watch "The Last Starfighter").
My kids' school is shutting down on Tuesday. Unfortunately, I think the Fratelli's found the pirate ship before we did in my story....
attempting to decipher life or death puzzles for a few gold doubloons.
That being said, sorry.
Goonies, no question. There's something about some specific 80's movies that have a certain pacing and comedic timing that has become a lost art in film.
There are much better movies out there, but I love that movie.
That or "Cool Hand Luke."
and acting. It's far more profound than what most people take from a superficial, first-time viewing.
is a wonderful movie. I hadn't realized before that it's based on a novel by Donn Pearce, who also wrote the screenplay for the film. The novel itself is great. I just read it this spring. Pearce had a real gift for imagery.
When I finally lose my mind I will just watch it on a loop
what you did there.
btw- Goodfellas, and Blazing Saddles
