OT: Best Public Bathroom at UM?
So, out of boredom in the offseason, I figured now would be a good time to start a poll as to which public bathroom at UM is the best. Criteria to consider:
-Cleanliness
-Accessibility
-Privacy
-Wittiness of Graffiti
-Intangibles
My first place vote goes to the Chem Building atrium.
-Cleanliness: A resounding meh, it's not Angell Hall or Ugli level disgusting, but it's not USB level polished, either.
-Accessibility: Very high, right in the center of the Chem Building.
-Privacy: Not too great, but its not near the creepiness level of the 4th floor Science Library bathrooms.
-Wittiness of Graffiti: The best. While East Hall has some good math jokes, nothing can match one of the stalls in this bathroom. For about a full year two years back, there was a game of Scrabble taking place on the tiles of the wall, that ended up spanning the entire wall. In addition, I've seen graffiti about organic molecues, and a giant portrait of Gordon Freeman. After this portrait was painted over, this appeared in its place:
-Intangibles: I spend half my life in the Chem Building, so this bathroom holds a special place in my heart.
Close Runner-Up: Secret Faculty Locker Room in the IMSB. Although it might not fall into the public department, as you need a key to access the locker room, it has unmatched levels of privacy and cleanliness.
So, what do you guys think?

is flush with potential.
February 17th, 2010 at 2:25 PM ^
There could also be a lot of really crappy puns too
February 17th, 2010 at 2:27 PM ^
... you keep track of the logs.
February 17th, 2010 at 2:31 PM ^
Urine good company here
February 17th, 2010 at 2:31 PM ^
the shit, guys.
It's pissing me off.
February 17th, 2010 at 2:37 PM ^
...when we're all pooped out, and not able to come up with any more.
February 17th, 2010 at 2:43 PM ^
really punny.
February 17th, 2010 at 2:54 PM ^
Sheesh. I haven't even gotten past the first few replies and already I want to wash my hands of this thread.
February 17th, 2010 at 2:55 PM ^
I didn't mean to stall you.
February 17th, 2010 at 3:01 PM ^
I think you misunderstood him - he wasn't dumping on you.
February 17th, 2010 at 3:09 PM ^
Too late - you've really clogged up the tubes here.
February 17th, 2010 at 3:30 PM ^
into thread-hikacking territory.
February 17th, 2010 at 3:50 PM ^
We're plumbing the depths of wasteful threads with this
February 17th, 2010 at 3:52 PM ^
Really good graffiti, everyone.
February 17th, 2010 at 2:25 PM ^
I see what you did there. I gave you +1 for it, and it went from 0 to 3 when I clicked....you're welcome?
February 17th, 2010 at 3:01 PM ^
That's the power of a partial page refresh. Two others voted before yours went in.
edit: classy. I'm telling naught but the truth.
February 17th, 2010 at 2:59 PM ^
How many more shitty topics are we going to have posted today.
February 17th, 2010 at 2:20 PM ^
The League if they still provide the double ply. Used to be the only place on campus.
February 17th, 2010 at 3:19 PM ^
That particular brand of toilet paper sucks.
February 17th, 2010 at 3:51 PM ^
The League has two secret one-holers, one on the third floor at the north end of the building and one in the basement in the service hallway. The third floor one was large and clean since it's meant as a public restroom, but the one in the basement was so small and out of the way that I didn't even know about it until my second year working there. I shirked more work taking a dump in that basement bathroom than I have in any single bathroom since, and I've shirked some work.

This thread reminds me of high school...literally...I went to an all boys high school and the BEST bathroom was this girls bathroom (because faculty had their own bathroom.)
It was so clean and unused.
February 17th, 2010 at 3:08 PM ^
I'm an '06 alum, and I would specifically go out of my way to use that bathroom.
February 17th, 2010 at 3:29 PM ^
I actually went to Xavier HS (NYC) but glad someone else shared the same experience. Think about it: ~1,000 dudes, there simply aren't enough toilets to even it out.
February 17th, 2010 at 2:24 PM ^
were you the only girl at the all boys school. lol
February 17th, 2010 at 2:32 PM ^
Yes, I was the only girl at an all boys HS.
February 17th, 2010 at 2:54 PM ^
and you're a moron."
February 17th, 2010 at 4:12 PM ^
A truly funny joke does not need a self-lol.

Social Work building was ALWAYS deserted and had some great facilities. But sometimes it was hard to get into. I think it was only open during the day to non students.
Upstairs at the MLB also worked well. There was never anyone around except on the main lecture floor.

the transgender bathroom in the SSW building is a gem. Everyone is afraid to be seen going in or exiting from there so it's meticulous. Seriously
February 17th, 2010 at 3:12 PM ^
I've seen some immaculate bathrooms, but never a meticulous one.
Edit: I'm trying to figure this one out. Is this a bathroom where the toilet won't let you get up until you've pooped JUST right?
February 17th, 2010 at 4:00 PM ^
You should have kept the SSW info to yourself.
February 17th, 2010 at 2:27 PM ^
well...I'm not sure what the best is, I just know that it definitely isn't one of the bathrooms in Markley.
February 17th, 2010 at 2:28 PM ^
-Cleanliness
-Accessibility
-Privacy
-Wittiness of Graffiti
-Intangibles
You forgot "accommodating of a wide stance."
February 17th, 2010 at 2:43 PM ^
I feel like that could fall under Intangibles
February 17th, 2010 at 2:31 PM ^
This thread reminds me of a Michigan Daily expose on the bathrooms in Angell Hall my freshman or sophomore year. Apparently it was a famously huge meetup spot for anonymous gay sex and a lot of really nasty shit went on there.
February 17th, 2010 at 2:41 PM ^
Senator Craig, this is not the time nor the place to out yourself on the internets.
February 17th, 2010 at 2:31 PM ^
The Upper Floors of Haven Hall.
Cleaniness: Normally these are fairly clean, I've always had good luck with the 6th floor ones myself. In general they tend to get worse the lower you go.
Accessibility: Pretty good. They're just a bit off the stair tower / elevators. If you're on Central, odds are you're in and out of Angell and its sub-halls constantly. So solid offering.
Privacy: Good on the privacy, also typically fairly desolate. You'll get occasional foot traffic from the grad students, but its mostly empty. I like the 6th floor since the 6th floor is mostly faculty offices, 60% of which are dark at all times. Also it is a small bathroom, a two staller, so it has a more personal feel.
Graffiti: Definitely the weak area. Just some GEO slogans.
Intangibles: It's a recently built facility. The top floor is in fact used by part of the Dean's staff, so facilities does a good job keeping them clean. Also they have excellent comment control, they're less likely to have some out of control A/C or heater going. Also quiet, not a lot of noise, lets you relax and take care of business.

Either the tree by the 8th green of the golf course or the side of Markley Hall.
How did I not get a UIP in college?
February 17th, 2010 at 2:36 PM ^
The unisex bathrooms in UGLi (3rd & 4th floors) are interesting, though I'm always slightly embarrassed when a hot girl is standing in line right after I leave a #2.
February 17th, 2010 at 2:45 PM ^
Yeah these ones are horrible, especially when you realize that door doesn't muffle sound at all, and the rest of the library is dead silent.
February 17th, 2010 at 2:38 PM ^
But my vote for the worst goes to either any GG Brown bathroom (oh, the smell...) or the basement of the Modern Language Building, where the stall walls are only about 4 feet tall. You could literally walk into the bathroom and watch someone take a shit over the stall door. Not cool.
February 17th, 2010 at 2:39 PM ^
LSA building main floor
or
The League second floor.
I tend to go more for cleanliness than anything else, and I've found these to be the best so far. Grafitti in these is definitely pretty poor, but it's a sacrifice...
February 17th, 2010 at 2:46 PM ^
What do you guys think Bo would think of letting Demar Dorsey play for michigan? I'm not trying to be negative about dorsey. I want him badly on this team. I was just wonder if he would give a scholarship to a person that has had some major legal issues.
February 18th, 2010 at 10:38 AM ^
uh....what? We're talking about bathrooms, man.
February 17th, 2010 at 2:44 PM ^
Did you actually take that pic yourself? Camera phones have been used many times in the bathroom, but I would think to take a picture of the stall wall is rarely the reason.
February 17th, 2010 at 2:46 PM ^
Yeah, that's the extent of my bathroom camera phone usage. I had a picture of the Gordon Freeman portrait but it got lost, so I had to make up for it with a picture of this.
February 17th, 2010 at 2:47 PM ^
Can you let us know when you are going out and where so we can all avoid you and your camera in the bathrooms in Ann Arbor and surrounding areas. I know people need a hobby, but this one isn't quite right.
February 17th, 2010 at 2:47 PM ^
The composting toilets in the Dana building are the best. Especially on the upper-floors, you can drop your bomb and wait for the oh-so satisfying impact *PLOP* after it falls two stories. Amazing.
February 17th, 2010 at 3:07 PM ^
agreed 3rd floor Dana is the best. No graffiti is the only downside but they are new. Also theres a chemical bath shower right outside of the door if your interested in a full locker room experience
