OT - Ole Miss self imposes reduction in football scholarships
people to email violations to [email protected] sorta backfired huh?
EDIT: Pet peeve, but was it really necessary to shorten "scholarships" into "schollys"? Do you still drink "Natty Lite"?
But he didn't use "schollies." He instead used "schollys," which is equally weird.
is just New Zealand with a criminal record.
Yupp
Is Michigan's Australia.
But are they going to reduce the number of Bag Men - I think not.
The number of bag men may go down, there will be less people to hand out money to. The amount of money the bag men hand out may increase per person. That is the biggiest shame, think about the Bag Men's families.
= more money for the good players
I'm thinking the timing has something to do with Baylor occupying the college football world's attention right now.
Craig James approves . . . allegedly
So does David Brandon.
NCAA is busy with the Baylor mess. Just throw this out there and hope the NCAA goes "Mmhmm sure whatever I'm busy right now...yeah, it's fine"
Ohio State decided that Thursday November 10, 2011 (Thursday following Joe Paterno being fired) was a good day to self-impose their scholarshp losses.

and really it's not that big of a penalty. Hopefully the NCAA will add a little more teeth to it.
smash the men's rowing team at Ole Miss like a bug.
I think what they did is worth of at least a one-year death penalty.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: if Penn St didn't get the death penalty, it will never happen again.
Thank you for this. Truly.
The NCAA didn't give SMU the death penalty. SMU gave the NCAA the death penalty. Enforcement will never be serious again.

obvious cash cows, too, makes perfect sense, gotta get those ladies on campus and keep them eligible.

Exactly my thought... they don't really need scholarships, do they?
Unreal. Baylor and Ole Miss sniff the power elite playoff and...all of sudden these "crimes" surface. Of course, one is a Baptist school and the other flies the totally forbidden un-PC Rebel Flag...I'm sure Obama didn't order these schools to be "taken out"...I predict Texas CHRSITIAN university to be suddenly found w/ "rapes" and "illegal pay outs" too...Of course this wise sage doesn't realize that maybe the reason Baylor and Ole Miss were able to sniff the playoff were rampant violations on their part
There's no football in Kenya. Do the math.
But a little research shows that this is a multi-year reduction in grayshirt offers. Apparently 11 less, over then next five years.
Self imposed punishment is a weird concept.
