OT: Worst national sports commentator?

Submitted by Eye of the Tiger on

I usually think it's Skip Bayliss, but I heard Jason Whitlock on the radio today--claiming that Art Briles shouldn't be fired because "it's his job to stand up for the players--and now I think it might be Whitlock.

Stephen A. Smith is another "top-quality" candidate.

Who do you think is the absolute worst?

As an avid soccer fan I can't help but mention Taylor Twellman. He's terrible. If I catch a game that he's doing commentary for I'll mute it and listen to music or something. I actually ended up watching a random spanish broadcast of the U.S. game last night.

There sure are plenty to choose from! I just posted to say that I overheard one of my friends talking about how Jalen is so horrible inarticulate, and hates him... Then proceeded to say that he loves sir Charles! My response was a loud and profound "TURRIBLE"!

I think he's called a game before. Hate him in the studio. He just bothers me. Don't like Ray Bentley either. That's probably more of hearing him on west Michigan radio...his hate for Michigan is something else

Musberger doing anything involving opening his mouth and creating sound
Millen doing football instead of his area of native expertise which is I don't know what that is
Berman doing golf
Jimmy Roberts doing human interest

I know I may get kilked for it and I love Kirk Gibson as much as the next Tiger fan. But I'm sorry, he just doesn't do it for me. Monotone voice, and he seems to explain every single play as if the viewer has never watched a baseball game. Over analysis. I didn't think there would be a day that I would be excited to see Hot Rod back next to Mario.

Joe Buck. I swear that guy doesnt even enjoy sports. Kills the overall mood of any game he calls with his monotoned complete lack of enthusiasm.

...if you watch soccer enough you're certainly sick and tired of listening to Taylor Twellman call games for the USMT. It's like listening to a 16-year-old high-school dropout every game.
