Nice story.  I can see why Harbaugh was interested, because of the multiple sports he played.  He seems to have been pretty good at all of them, too, which is something coach likes in his players.  The whole versatility thing.  I don't know if the psuedo 'committment' thing helped him with the offer to IU, but I hoped it played a little part.  Although his stats were pretty impressive.  The kid seems like he's earned his way, I wish him good luck...

Except on certain game days.

What are you talking about? There was nothing fake about the offer or his acceptance. If you read the story on his decommitment that was linked within the story OP linked to, you would have learned that his coach says he decided to decommit because UM continued to recruit running backs.

Personally, I think Harbaugh would have liked to bring back the wingback. Enis would be perfect for that position.

A poor choice of terms, perhaps? I didn't read that linked story, but will go back and do so. Nonetheless, I knew his decommit was due to others in the class, and the continued recruitment of other RBs. I thought (maybe rightfully, maybe not) that he wasn't going to be high enough on the pecking order to make the class or, at the most, not see enough playing time.

And yeah, I also think the wingback would be tremendously exciting to watch run by a Harbaughffense!

Was one of the recruits that got the silent treatment from the staff after he committed. He came out and said he hadn't heard from the staff for over a month at one point. It was all openly reported by the MGoBlog staff. So it was pretty much known long before his decommitted that he would not be part of the class. I was disappointed about it, because i really liked his clips, and properly used I think he is giong to be a weaspon on the next level.

Very sad beginnings. It's a blessing that his grandparents were there, or this could have been a much different outcome. I hope that he does well at IU and beyond.

He seems like a very good kid. My son's school is in the same conference and we talked with him for awhile after they played us in football and basketball. Wish he had stayed Blue but will still root for him on Saturdays for the next 4 years.

This is one case where the back-story makes it so clear why he'd want to play for IU, and the speculation of his being bothered by the M pecking order moot.  The home his grandparents gave him, the support from his school, his younger brother still playing in high school-- If this isn't a case of playing close to home being important, I don't know what is.  He'll thrive, and his family will be there to watch it.  And glow with pride.

It's amazingly easy to forget (or just ignore) how much chaos and struggle is in the background of some of these kids, and what they had to go through just to reach this level of competition and attend a B1G university. Some of us who were randomly lucky enough to be born into stable, happy situations can scarcely imagine what kind of fortitude it takes for kids to overcome rough upbringings. Good for Kiante.
