Vegas opens with us as favorites at Sparty
Vegas just posted odds on the top CFB games of the year, plus the opening weekend. One of the games is in EL: We are -2 @ MSU.

B1G generally not getting love in these big games, although not a surprise. LSU favored at Lambeau over the Badgers; and OSU a dog to Oklahoma, but considering how the Buckeyes have to reload, you'd expect that.
I get the feelnig these early lines are for the public, and the heavy money won't come in until closer to the season? Like, what if some team's coach mocks his first-week (and vastly superior) opponent on Twitter.... not that that ever happens.

Am I missing something? seems like easy money. I thought we'd be favored by more.
That's crazy talk. first 7 games. jeesh. LOL.
Hey, easy money for them. They could have started that January 1 and had bets. January 1st. Good times. Good times.
Btw, what's with your "ass" fixation?
it was an incredibly smart move. On the day of the game, you had a home team favored by 13.5 against their biggest rival in the biggest game of the season. I still believe that if OSU beat Sparty, we would have beaten them. They were the most talented team I've ever seen maybe outside of 2005 with USC-Texas.

I don't understand his specific type of weirdo trolling, but I do admire his total committment to it.

I think we will probably win too, but I really don't see anyway in which we blow them out. If anything, I think we could shut them out (or at least 7 points or less), but I highly doubt our offense will be able to put up a ton of points on them, especially in a road environment.
In terms of the two teams, I anticipate both MSU's defense and Michigan's offense staying relatively steady this year, maybe slight improvements from both (our run offense should be a little bit better, their pass defense should be a little bit better). This means MSU's defense, while not at their elite level of 2012-2013, will still be very solid and I do not think Michigan's offense will be elite. We only scored 23 on them last year, and that was at home, so I really don't think our offense will get more than 27/28 points.
The reason we should beat them will be on the other side of the field, as our defense stands to get even better while their offense should take a big hit. Some defensive or special teams points could also be crucial.
favored last year also...... :(

spartys to the left of me. spartys to the right of me. spartys all around.
will escape back north later. so far, no couch burnings that i've seen.
I can see them running a relay around east lansing with a smoldering cushion, then into the stadium where the sacred sofa is set aflame to the wildly cheering masses (of the 1/2 filled stadium).
each holding up a Bic lighter. When they happen upon an unguarded couch, up in flames it goes.
It's considered to be like guard duty for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, only with a heap of disrespekt.
it is a pretty sad, run down city. some nicer farm land not too far away would be cool, but there were bums around the park, urban squalor (spell check), etc. i was with a good group so that was fun, but no thanks to EL.
was at the lugnuts game last night with a big group, and i was wearing a michigan sweat shirt. one of the kids that works in the stadium came up and pointed to it and said (pretty good naturedly), 'hey, you've got a mess on the front of that shirt'. i told him i was sorry about his SAT scores. he had no come back for that one.
but most definitely, a beer with you and all manner of other mgobloggers if/when we are in the same space.

Michigan is a +6.5 underdog at OSU? Seems like a lot of points.

They've beat us in 13 of the last 14 meetings. Unless Luke Fickell is the head coach again, there's no "probably" beating OSU
And even with Luke Fickell coaching, it took an overthrown TD pass to actually beat them
Makes the 2012 and 2013 losses, which were both totally within our grasp, very disheartening.
It's being played in Columbus, where we haven't won in over 15 years. It's no surprise at all that we're underdogs. We probably deserve to be an underdog any time we play them until we actually find a way to beat them.

OSU is losing a lot of talent, and +6.5 is a lot of points for a rivalry game. Especially when Michigan is expected to be a preseason top 10 team.
on Sundays this year
