Rumor: Harbaugh to hold satellite camp in American Samoa!

Submitted by ThadMattasagoblin on
I was listening to the huge show yesterday and Sam Webb was on talking about satellite camps. Apparently, there is a possibility that Harbaugh holds a camp in American Samoa along with Hawaii.

To only reach maybe 1-2 kids that could even play D1 ball, and no guarantee that they choose UM. It's a waste of money. Then again Harbaugh isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer.

That's just his summer vacation. Every place he goes from now on is going to be called a satellite camp. Harbaugh taking a dump at a campsite in northern Indiana? Satellite camp in a northern Indiana campsite bathroom.

Build Pacific Islander Pipeline!  Build it now!

And by being the first program to set up a satellite camp in American Samoa, this is exacly what will happen.

Whatever arbitrary and capricious rules the NCAA adopts related to satellite camps in future years, being the first major program to make it easy for Islanders to be noticed and recruited will be remembered for a long time.  I have spent some years in the Pacific Islands, and one thing these people know is loyalty

Mix the American Samoa satellite camp with a measure of Tony Tuioti, and a dash of Sione Houma, and Harbaugh's got a recipe for making Michigan a Pacific Islander football factory.

Which is something I cannot wait to see.

Because the entire post is dedicated to the idea of building a "Pacific Islander Pipeline," and "making Michigan a Pacific Islander football factory."

This confusion is probably related to the distinction between Pacific Islanders in general and one Pacific Islander in particular.

Now, if Harbaugh does in fact hold this camp in American Samoa, and one of the other coaches point out that one of the campers is a bit overweight or fat, Harbaugh is required to respond thusly: "I wouldn't go so far as to call the brother fat. He's got a weight problem. But what's he gonna do, he's Samoan."

I just hope that one of those camps has its registration desk right on the 50-yard line at Bryant-Denny just so the Alabama staff can do something akin to electioneering right in front of the table if they so choose. It would be pretty funny to watch them humiliate themselves just to cause a distraction and impede attendance.

Has Sam indicated when the Michigan Insider podcasts will return? I haven't been able to download for over a month now.

Podcast haven't gone anywhere, they just updated to a new host. I'm on mobile so I don't have the link handy, but if you use iTunes just do a search for the Michigan insider. Otherwise the podcast page on their website is also a good source.

Yeah - I haven't been able to use my primary podcast program since the switch - but that is probably a tech-deficiency on my end. You can get them via the default Apple podcast app -- it just isn't as user friendly imo.
