Proof that Cleveland Glenville is stacking the deck for OSU and against UM
I know this kind of stuff at Glenville is not news to us, but Sam Webb reported this morning on WTKA that two 2011 UM football recruits at Cleveland Glenville were supposed to have received UM offers from RR via the fax machine at the high school. When UM contacted the two recruits (sorry, don't remember their names but it will be on the podcast I assume), they both said that neither knew anything about a fax, and that nothing had been given to them by the adults at the school. They subsequently received their UM offers via snail mail. Webb was very careful to say that this was all a coincidence, but he was speaking very tongue-in-cheek. One missing fax is a mistake, but two is proof enough that the school officials themselves are taking direct steps to aid OSU and hamper Michigan.
I wonder if any high school in Michigan would even think about doing the same to OSU faxes.

I know that the general concensus on this board is that "Michigan is better than that" and all, but sometimes you do have to stoop to other peoples level if you want to be competitive. Plus, in this case it wouldn't be UM doing anything, just a HS in the state treating OSU the way Ohio HS's treat UM.

Closing a door for a our youth without them even knowing it was open is not something I want anyone taking part in, especially due to winning a football game. They should be ashamed of themselves and honestly should probably lose their jobs.

I'd rather have a kid making an educated and informed decision about where he goes to school. If OSU offers him a scholarship, he should know about it. For some, OSU is a better fit, and they shouldn't miss out on it for some douchebag coach's ego.
If I was a coach and one of my players got an offer from OSU I'd slap him on the back and congratulate him for earning something incredibly impressive. Of course I'd tell him I'm a Michigan fan and I'd rather see him in maize and blue, but that's not a coach's decision to make.

If they sent the faxes one right after the other, then it doesn't necessarily mean it was a conspiracy. The machine could have been off, Ginn Sr. could have not checked his mailbox, they could've been filed improperly. I feel that this is more about incompetence than conspiracy.
But Ginn Sr. is still a wanker.

Yeah, the leap from 1 is a mistake to 2 is proof is quite the blind leap. We can assume that the adults there are biased, but stating that they purposefully tossed some important faxes is speculation, not anything approaching proof.
My guess is that it is a combination of incompetence and bias. To tell a "just so" tale, perhaps someone saw the michigan faxes and left them on the fax to attend to later when he/she has time for less important matters like UM. Then, after faxes built up, some incompetent adult came by and just tossed a bunch of faxes.
Or, the person at UM, in sending both faxes at once, did something wrong.
One tale is as easy to tell as the other. But, as Mark stated, "Ginn Sr. is still a wanker." I for one, however, hope he becomes less of a wanker with RR here.

What are the rules on this? Do these offers have to be sent to the school? Virtually every college application these days is submitted online and correspondence is predominantly via email. Faxing is notoriously unreliable (ever run out of paper?) and rapidly going the way of the manual typewriter.
There may be a good reason but it seems archaic.

To try and balance Cleveland Public School's budget they proposed a list of 18 schools to close wirhen the next two years. Glenville is on that list.

Seems like a real dick move to the kids. Ginn might think OSU is heads and shoulders above Michigan, but it is undeniable that Michigan can provide a kid a lot.
Denying those kids that opportunity is horrible, not for Michigan, but for the kids.

I am fully convinced that the "snafu" regarding JT Turner's paperwork was intentional, too. It's just like Ohio State Troopers pulling over UM fans for going 56 mph on the way to the game. Ohio people have a hatred for UM that far transcends a "sporting rivalry."

A large number of people here need to accept that this is a GAME - not an epic battle of good vs. evil, not a cloak-and-dagger operation, and not some world where MICHIGAN is the beckoning glow of Light and Good while MSU and OSU operate in the shadows, kidnapping kids and destroying their correspondence. For the record, I have never spent five seconds here or anywhere else waxing apoplectic over Ginn going to OSU. I don't know why you brought up Hankins, since he has nothing to do with Glenville. Michigan regarded other DL recruits more highly, and OSU was the beneficiary. Some regard the mysteriously missing faxes as purely random coincidences and nothing more; given the long-standing animosity of Glenville towards UM, I think that's a bit naive. If somebody can unearth an OSU recruit from Glenville who also says he didn't get the fax, then that would be an indication my skepticism is unwarranted.
It's certainly possible that there are HS coaches in Michigan or elsewhere that would withhold information from students that is rightfully theirs, but since I don't spend any time on OSU or MSU blogs or message boards I haven't come across any such assertions. Steering or persuading students is common enough and I'm sure it goes on everywhere, but witholding information that legally belongs to a student is a bit different in my book.

I remember running track my senior year against Ginn Jr. By this point who had already committed to OSU and we got to talking about football and how I was a Michigan fan. He was actually a really nice guy, I don't think you can say as much about his dad. Anyways, I really had no interest on recruiting at the point but he had told me it was a really tough decision between OSU and Michigan and that he was actually on the Michigan sidelines for the big game that year. He claimed the only reason he choose to go to OSU was because he had family close to Columbus and he would be closer to his mom, take it for what it's worth. To this day I still wonder how many more kids we would be getting from Glenville if Ginn Jr. would have came to Michigan instead.
