Michigan Rap/Hype song to play at Spring Game tomorrow
This aired on WTKA this morning.
Bailey, a San Francisco-based rapper (rappist), did a song like this for the 49ers when Harbaugh was there and it got over a million views on YouTube.
Harbaugh asked him awhile ago to do this song but for Michigan and he did.
Per WTKA, it will be played at The Big House tomorrow at the spring game. Bailey will actually be there tomorrow.
Before you old farts yell about it, Harbaugh loves it and he wanted this done.
I think it's pretty great.

I love it. Very cool that Harbaugh embraces what his players like as well.
Link?
Eh. It's the spring game. I would be opposed to this in an actual game but recruits like that stuff.
I like it...its fun and different and if the recruits like it then its even better
The song is...sort of shitty. Sorry. Sounds like it took two hours of work.

I love the concept. But the execution was awful.
If you are thinking about listening to it... DON'T.

I like rap. This is not rap. RIP Phife.
This IS rap. As far as Phife goes...he wasn't just a rapper. He was an emcee and was a proponent of the hip hop culture as was the entire ATCQ.
That being said...I don't think this song is bad at all for what it's purpose is.
I love it. The college players love it. Harbaugh loves it. I remember the SF players loved it.
Original Video
Man, that just shows how lazy the MIchigan version was. He basically just replaced names and called it good.
Which is exactly what Harbaugh wanted him to do. What's your point?
Need to redo this video with the Big House & Mackinac Bridge!
It's a'ight. The production is spare enough that it won't sound incredibly dated in six months like that Pop Evil crapola (which in addition to sounding dated also sucked), but the sampled call-and-response is a bit silly.
Can't be worse than that one song by Pop Evil. Good lord I hated that.
... for what Harbaugh is building that's attracting top-notch recruits today, THIS WORKS! Not saying it's a game-changer, it just fits with the "different" they see in Harbaugh.
I can't say that I'm excited about it, or that I like it but if it helps recruit, I'll tolerate it.
Not bad. Would love to see Big Sean take a crack at it.
Not a big fan of either but I actually liked the pop evil song better. The recruits at the spring game will probably enjoy it though. If it brings us better recruits then I'm all for it.

Not a great song. Could we not get big sean, migos, eminem or somebody with actual talent? He'll Jack Kennedy probably could have done better
Niners fan and I loved the song when it came out.

I had pretty much forgotten that shitfest.
The lyrics are on point. That beat is trash though!
I liked the pop evil song. Don't really like them as a band or listen to their music but for getting pumped before a game it was pretty good. I always thought the response on this blog to that song was blown way out of line.

Is the song good? No. Could I do better? No.

Dumb. I hate rap.
I hope its not some bull sh_t because these recruits can smell bull sh_t a mile away and we lose cred by trying so hard when we only have to be ourselves. MICHIGAN!!!!!
How has that worked the last 10 years?? Losing smells a lot worse. Not a fan of the song, but they should let big Sean or please forgive me, lil Wayne haves crack at it.
I just really dislike when people make these statements. No one is breaking down doors to play here. Why do you think harbaugh is setting up camps all over the country. He understood early on that Michigan has to work to get back into relevance nationally. Please get off this "we are Michigan" stuff, that worked 20 years ago, not today.

People are breaking down doors to play here. We just had a number 5 ranked class last year dude. Harbaugh is setting up camps because he can and we have the money not because we're struggling so much that we need them.
My age has nothing to do with the fact that this song will probably not be very good, whether or not Harbaugh wants it.
It's embedded in the first post.
About 10 too many "Who's got it better than us".
take those out and it's really not that bad

I don't think that Jim actually asked for this. His concept was completely misconstrued, as he actually wanted Gordon Lightfoot to do a rap song about Michigan.

Solid verses. I hate how the hook sounds though.
I like it
I would love to see that rocking the house before kickoff, with 100k+ yelling "NOOOOOBODY!" That would be electric.
Well did they play this song and how was it received?
And I'd say the crowd was pretty into it, definitely belting out Noooooobody. It's an easy and obvious chorus line for novices to jump right in. I'd love to see them play that just before kickoffs in the fall. I think the Big House would be rockin and raucous.
Thanks...this would own with 110,000 people yelling NOBODY!
I am 56 yrs old and thought the song was great. I was yelling the hook "nobody" along with everyone else around me. I would love to see it during the season.
