OT: Talking Cars Tuesday - We're Back
After a hiatus, we're back. Just like the Camaro.
Speaking of comebacks - what's the one vehicle that you would love to see a "new" version of? There's a Swiss company that's working on a new Issetta
http://jalopnik.com/a-swiss-company-wants-to-electrically-resurrect-the-ise-1767532983
Did you have a GREAT old car that you'd love a brand-new version of? Figure the company didn't die/get absorbed/etc. Think of comebacks like the Ford GT 40, etc. Anyone want a new TransAm? Think of cars they DONT make anymore - don't tell me you want a new CJ-5 - you can (essentially) get one.

The Pacer
So hot with the flames.

The Cuda.
March 29th, 2016 at 11:20 AM ^
There were rumors of a smaller/lighter FCA product to replace and/or compliment the Challenger... we'll see if a more lithe 2-door happens
March 29th, 2016 at 11:39 AM ^
Yeah, I love the old Cudas. I am not sure that I would actually buy one though. They'd be nice to look at. I'm just at the point where getting in and out of coupes is uncomfortable. For most coupes, the back seat is impractical. I like having the ability to open the rear door and tossing in my stuff as opposed to putting it in the trunk. Easier for passengers to get in and out of too.

A new F-150 Lightning
March 29th, 2016 at 10:42 AM ^
The 2015 F150 has a sport mode which is actually pretty fun. Not exactly a Mustang, but still pretty fun.
March 29th, 2016 at 11:21 AM ^
But there are potentially Hellcat-Rams running around Auburn Hills. It wouldn't be a lightning replacement, but an SRT-10 Ram comeback

lb/ft of torque through a light rear end! Spare tires included! ;-)
March 29th, 2016 at 11:35 AM ^
Nissan is making a truck with the GT-r engine in it. 800hp. Insane.
March 29th, 2016 at 10:40 AM ^
Supra. Please.

Lexus and BMW have been working on a sports car tie-up for a few years, rumored to replace the Z4. It'll be the right size, and Lexus has been working on their performance chops. Toyoda (the head guy) wants more soul in his lineup so it might just happen

Ambassador station wagon with wood grain contact paper on the doors and fenders. Huge boat of a car.
We took our 3 week trip out west from Pittsburgh in one of those when I was 14. It had a jump seat in the back luggage area that faced the rear of the car and to change things up my dad would put all the luggage in the back seat so my brother and I could sit in the very back.
March 29th, 2016 at 12:05 PM ^
Mini vans are by far the worst looking cars in the world and coming in close at second place is.......the station wagon. Horrible, horrible, horrible cars.
March 29th, 2016 at 12:36 PM ^
You're insane. Done right, wagons can be the best of most worlds.
awful
Hot hatches are the best
March 29th, 2016 at 12:50 PM ^
Station wagons are brilliant and don't you say otherwise. The existence of cute-utes alone (Nissan Cube, Scion xB, etc.) disproves the point about worst looking cars in the world.
very much
I'm looking at those and still see hideous cars.
Always liked the all road

Also:
This is the best car because GM flat out said "we have no good reason to build it. But it's awesome."
The economics of auto companies always make it tough to justify extravagances like this, which is a shame. Need more fun stuff.
I would kill for one of these. Even with the 14MPG.

one was a disgusting green, the other an equally nasty orange. i can only imagine that my dad got a 'deal' for them when he bought them. no wonder....

in a Ford Pinto. My dad had the patience of Job.
March 29th, 2016 at 11:29 AM ^
It would need to be equipped with Firestone 500 tires - then I'm in.
We had one when I was a kid. A 1976 Green Ford Pinto. I used to wax that thing to a glossy shine.
When they started exploding, Ford had a recall and came up with some type of "fix" which was simply a metal rod which was inserted near the gas cap opening. I doubt that fixed anything.
1970s Fords were like the 1970s Lions. Both sucked and were owned by the Ford family.

And a modern Tucker would be cool too. Lot's of sweet looking cars from the 40's and early 50's would be on my list.
March 29th, 2016 at 10:46 AM ^
That Issetta looks like Guido from the Cars movies (minus the forklift hands)
March 29th, 2016 at 10:48 AM ^
Bring back the Model T!
Actually would be pretty cool to see a modern interpretation.
March 29th, 2016 at 10:49 AM ^
The Acura RSX or the Mazda RX-7.
But really the hatch WRX.
March 29th, 2016 at 11:16 AM ^
I'd be cool with a new RX-7. Sadly it would probably be non rotary.
March 29th, 2016 at 11:45 AM ^
Wouldn't be surprised to see a new rotary from mazda... They've got engineers working on a wenkel engine as we speak

March 29th, 2016 at 12:03 PM ^
I saw a debadged hatch WRX yesterday in Fenway. All kinds of crazy cars are here: Lime green 80's 911, 80's Ford Tempo, and a Geo metro are some of the highlights.
March 29th, 2016 at 12:19 PM ^
They aren't uncommon, but Subaru stopped making the hatch WRX, 2014 was the last model year. Which sucks because the 15s are amazing
March 29th, 2016 at 12:35 PM ^
An electric Metro would be sweet and practical.
March 29th, 2016 at 10:50 AM ^
I would normally say that my top choice would be the Roadrunner, as I have a love for that car. However, since Chrysler has a thing for screwing these up recently ( Dart and Charger ) I will say it is a tie with the FD Rx-7 and the Karmann Ghia.

had a red one in college. my buddies called me 'bobby duke' for obvious reasons.

It's either a GTX or a Road Runner - hard to tell from long distance. It's a 72 I think - pretty cool either way.
only cosmetic differences and of course engines. mine had a hand-crank sun roof. no A/C though, with black seats made it less than ideal in summer.
The attached pic is identical to my old car.
March 29th, 2016 at 11:15 AM ^
That is awesome! When I was 17 I had the opportunity to buy a 72 Roadrunner for a grand that needed a complete restoration. The guy had essentially all the parts for it to be done ( new door panels, radiator, alternator, etc ) but I passed on it because I didn't have the garage space at my parents house at the time. I still am kicking myself over that one.
March 29th, 2016 at 11:24 AM ^
I think VW has to do SOMETHING after they fix their awful cheating scandal. A car with soul might just do it. The other big idea is an all electric MicroBus
March 29th, 2016 at 11:34 AM ^
Corrado vr6. That would be a fun VW comeback.
March 29th, 2016 at 11:40 AM ^
That was a neat car. I drove one but did not buy it as I oped for an Audi GT at the time. They recently fixed one on Wheeler Dealers. btw I think Wheeler Dealers is the best car show on TV.
March 29th, 2016 at 11:36 AM ^
They keep making problematic vehicles and people keep buying them. Why change now.
Bring back the Thing!!!!
