Demeaning himself. If you were a coach or player there, would you be more impressed by (1) Harbaugh on the field, changing how people coach and recruit college football or (2) Bielema, sitting in the stands looking in like the kid who didn't make varsity.

Let him watch.

Curious as to why. Arkansas won't be playing Michigan in the national title game in January, so scouting our squad is pointless.

I'm not sure if he was being serious. But if he was, it may have more to do with recruiting than scouting. There will be a lot of Florida HS coaches there.

I guess Michigan does play Arkansas in 2 years, but I doubt that is the reason. Bielema may not even be there anymore at that point.

Probably to rub shoulders with media, IMG staff and coaches, and gain some good press bc they'll be mentioned as the only coaches to come along.

How great would it be if the NCAA guys watching Michigan find no violations but then pop Arkansas for recruiting during a down period??

If Bret's coming it's cause he's smart enough to know that watching one our practices he might just learn something and his pride (unlike the other SEC demi-god coaches) isnt too great to allow it.  And the offense he runs is similiar enough to ours (remember his talk last year regarding fullbacks) that he probably will.

Good for him if he does.

He's INTERESTING.  His lack of filter is unique among CFB coaches.  It makes 100% sense he would meet his wife (who has no filter herself) while playing blackjack in Vegas.  He's exactly the type of dude who would actually show up in Bradenton and have some fun with it all.

Kind of under-appreciated through it all: he's a pretty good football coach.  Proven that over 10 years now at Wisconsin and Arkansas (which was in the total basement when Bret arrived).

The Toledo and Texas Tech losses last year were rather comical, especially considering the sideshows (talking smack about Ohio State's schedule and the Kingsbury feud).  But Arkansas beat all of Auburn, Ole Miss, Tennessee and LSU as part of a 6-1 finish, with the one loss by a point vs. Mississippi State.  That's not too bad.

Guys love their fat jokes and I think one facet of the Hoke hate (see Oregon DC thread above) is that the dude was overweight and UM fans had to bite their tongues on many opportunities to make a joke about someone's weight.  Charlie Weis was the only dude that was fair game, because ND and he was way bigger than Hoke.

Now all that pent up frustration of having to take the fat jokes from MSU and OSU fans about Hoke can be unleashed.
