SuperBowl Food
Today is one of the most exciting days of the year if you are a football fan. An important factor for this day is the spread of food that you will be gobbling up prior to kickoff and into the game itself. I'm making a mega huge nacho with all the fixins, ordering some top notch pizza (pepperoni and mushrooms, of course), and making a 5 layer dip that goes oh so well with tortilla chips. What are all of you making and eating on this glorious day?
P.s. What about the booze? Anyone fightin the good fight against their liver today?

This is an essential.

Oh dear God. That must be added. Thanks for the post. I know I will enjoy that.

I would recommend NOT using canned chicken--boil the chicken breasts instead.
Also, use 1 cup of ranch and 1 cup of Frank's Red Hot instead of just 1/2 cup of each.
In addition to this, we're having crab legs, shrimp, pizza, and some other stuff.

meaning its very easy to make. SOOOOO good too.

I make this for the Super Bowl every year as well as for big bowl games, New Year's Eve, birthday parties, etc. People just sit around and devour the whole thing. It's awesome.
I agree with whoever else said it, though - use more ranch than that link says, and boil the chicken breasts instead of using canned chicken.

Chili is simmering for chili cheese fries and chili cheese burgers.
Pringles taco night and cheese burger flavors.
Buffalo wing flavor pretzels.
Alt homebrew

I have my Pepto Bismol and Maalox ready for action. The day after the Super Bowl really makes me wish I had a 60 K bathroom like Harbaugh has.
February 7th, 2010 at 12:40 PM ^
Spaghetti with Tarsitano's gravy and meatballs (ex-in law family recipe), homemade pizzas (mushroom, hot italian sausage, caramelized onion), chopped salad with many forms of cured pork and provolone, super chocolate brownies for dessert.
February 7th, 2010 at 12:49 PM ^
the only realistic choice for super bowl food is the 50 piece mcnugget meal. i mean seriously, what more could you want?
February 7th, 2010 at 12:51 PM ^
That will be a staple at my party tonight!
February 7th, 2010 at 1:47 PM ^
Chiiicckkeenn Paaaasste. And crunchy!
February 7th, 2010 at 12:53 PM ^
Google Mississippi Sin. I would provide a link but I am on my BB. Use the recipe with breakfast sausage and you can just throw this in a crockpot, get a sliced baguette and your golden. Man this stuff is good.

with some pizza, will be moving on to some chips and dip at about 1pm. Got Brats and steak for the grill around 4 plus about a meat tray and a dip tray (4 different dips, including the one mentioned above with the frank's red hot) to snack on during the game. Let the gluttony begin! (oh wait it already has)

Definitely have to have the bean dip, buffalo wings, I like to throw in a pizza and some hot dogs (with spicy mustard and relish) along just for good measure. For desert, fresh baked chocolate chip cookies (nestle toll house recipe).
February 7th, 2010 at 1:42 PM ^
munchies - cheese balls, chips, cheetos, etc.
For the main course I'll be having a Popeyes chicken.
And as for Booze I have a fridge stacked with some of the cheapest stuff money can buy.

February 7th, 2010 at 6:35 PM ^
I love me some Hooters wings. Unfortunately the nearest Hooters is about 90 miles away.
I'm jealous.
February 7th, 2010 at 9:40 PM ^

Got up and made a batch of salsa, dough for pizza which we will make later (took a course at Zingermans), wings, real mac and cheese, beef stew and a big pot of chicken soup for tomorrow when my stomach totally blows out.
Oh yeah, forgot the bottle of Balvenie 21
February 7th, 2010 at 3:17 PM ^
some spinach and artichoke dip, chocolate covered pretzels, and jerky. Random, yet delicious.
February 7th, 2010 at 3:43 PM ^
Finally gave into those darn Rotel commercials, Making queso dip to go with the onion rings, burgers and chicken wings
February 7th, 2010 at 4:07 PM ^
and you're eating Rotel? You might as well trade in your colors for some new Maize and Blue duds. =)
February 7th, 2010 at 7:29 PM ^
The verdict is in!
Rotel + Velveta = delicious
February 7th, 2010 at 3:43 PM ^
It's always just me and the misses for the Super Bowl. Not into the party scene (since I want to see the game and not talk).
I do chili every year. I'm going to make some cornbread as well. In fact, I've got to start on both in about 15 min.
February 7th, 2010 at 3:44 PM ^
Headed to a party with a chili cookoff, also taking
Hispanic hot wings, stuffed Jalapeno's and about
4 Zantac. Going to wash that down with some Anchor
Steam.
February 8th, 2010 at 1:25 AM ^
Instead of watching the superbowl you went to a farting contest.
February 7th, 2010 at 4:17 PM ^
Homemade chicken nachos! Well thats what Im taking to the party.
And beer. Lots of beer.
February 7th, 2010 at 4:31 PM ^
Made some jambalaya in honor of the Saints, and will probably supplement it with some traditional pizza.
February 7th, 2010 at 6:20 PM ^
M-Wolverine,
your pic reminds me of my favorite beer, brewed up
in the Keweenaw peninsula and the pub is in Houghton.
A big-bosomed Blonde with a pickax on a can of beer.
That's as good as it gets.

A big-bosomed Blonde with a pickax AND a can of beer?
February 7th, 2010 at 9:51 PM ^
She might have sex with you, she might give you a cold one, or she might kill you with mining equipment.
Seems like good odds to me.
February 7th, 2010 at 9:57 PM ^
All Basic Instinct style...
February 7th, 2010 at 9:04 PM ^
Cuban sandwiches and Jim Beam have been the order of the day for me. Pork + Bourbon = I am a Super Bowl champion!
By the way, this post was made possible by the fact that I'm way more interested in Michigan getting Latwan Anderson than I am about any NFL game ever.
EDIT: Watching The Who old and sans Moon is depressing. Luckily the whiskey hasn't run out.
February 7th, 2010 at 11:14 PM ^
I ordered pizza from Pizza Hut. God what a mistake that was.
February 8th, 2010 at 12:16 AM ^
My offering for the night's party: Freshly fried breaded cheddar nuggets. Nothing like a mountain of deep fried cheese dipped in ranch dressing to start the night off right.
A very old guest with some serious memory problems somehow got sat in front of them and ate half the plate himself, though. I feel very sorry for him the next time he visits the bathroom.
