SuperBowl Food

Submitted by MichMike86 on

Today is one of the most exciting days of the year if you are a football fan. An important factor for this day is the spread of food that you will be gobbling up prior to kickoff and into the game itself. I'm making a mega huge nacho with all the fixins, ordering some top notch pizza (pepperoni and mushrooms, of course), and making a 5 layer dip that goes oh so well with tortilla chips. What are all of you making and eating on this glorious day?

P.s. What about the booze? Anyone fightin the good fight against their liver today?

I would recommend NOT using canned chicken--boil the chicken breasts instead.

Also, use 1 cup of ranch and 1 cup of Frank's Red Hot instead of just 1/2 cup of each.

In addition to this, we're having crab legs, shrimp, pizza, and some other stuff.

I make this for the Super Bowl every year as well as for big bowl games, New Year's Eve, birthday parties, etc. People just sit around and devour the whole thing. It's awesome.

I agree with whoever else said it, though - use more ranch than that link says, and boil the chicken breasts instead of using canned chicken.

I have my Pepto Bismol and Maalox ready for action. The day after the Super Bowl really makes me wish I had a 60 K bathroom like Harbaugh has.

Spaghetti with Tarsitano's gravy and meatballs (ex-in law family recipe), homemade pizzas (mushroom, hot italian sausage, caramelized onion), chopped salad with many forms of cured pork and provolone, super chocolate brownies for dessert.

Google Mississippi Sin. I would provide a link but I am on my BB. Use the recipe with breakfast sausage and you can just throw this in a crockpot, get a sliced baguette and your golden. Man this stuff is good.

with some pizza, will be moving on to some chips and dip at about 1pm. Got Brats and steak for the grill around 4 plus about a meat tray and a dip tray (4 different dips, including the one mentioned above with the frank's red hot) to snack on during the game. Let the gluttony begin! (oh wait it already has)

Definitely have to have the bean dip, buffalo wings, I like to throw in a pizza and some hot dogs (with spicy mustard and relish) along just for good measure. For desert, fresh baked chocolate chip cookies (nestle toll house recipe).

munchies - cheese balls, chips, cheetos, etc.

For the main course I'll be having a Popeyes chicken.

And as for Booze I have a fridge stacked with some of the cheapest stuff money can buy.

Got up and made a batch of salsa, dough for pizza which we will make later (took a course at Zingermans), wings, real mac and cheese, beef stew and a big pot of chicken soup for tomorrow when my stomach totally blows out.

Oh yeah, forgot the bottle of Balvenie 21

It's always just me and the misses for the Super Bowl. Not into the party scene (since I want to see the game and not talk).

I do chili every year. I'm going to make some cornbread as well. In fact, I've got to start on both in about 15 min.

Headed to a party with a chili cookoff, also taking
Hispanic hot wings, stuffed Jalapeno's and about
4 Zantac. Going to wash that down with some Anchor
Steam.

Made some jambalaya in honor of the Saints, and will probably supplement it with some traditional pizza.

Cuban sandwiches and Jim Beam have been the order of the day for me. Pork + Bourbon = I am a Super Bowl champion!

By the way, this post was made possible by the fact that I'm way more interested in Michigan getting Latwan Anderson than I am about any NFL game ever.

EDIT: Watching The Who old and sans Moon is depressing. Luckily the whiskey hasn't run out.

My offering for the night's party: Freshly fried breaded cheddar nuggets. Nothing like a mountain of deep fried cheese dipped in ranch dressing to start the night off right.

A very old guest with some serious memory problems somehow got sat in front of them and ate half the plate himself, though. I feel very sorry for him the next time he visits the bathroom.
