OT - Clothing Resale / MGoClassified
I've been meaning to post this for some time now, but wanted to wait until it seemed OT was in full bloom. Based on some of the other posts I've seen - I hope this won't draw too much ire.
So here are the questions:
What do you do with your kids Michigan gear when they outgrow it?
Are you planning to pitch your old Adidas jerseys when you buy your new Nike JumpMan jersey?
Did your wife buy you a new bar mirror and you have no clue what to do with your old one?
Do you live geographically far from Michigan, making acquiring used gear difficult?
What I'd like to start is a discussion about is how we might start up a resale / classified venue. Locally we have facebook gruops for the suburb I live in, but since I live in Columbus there isn't much gear on there.
What is the approrpriate venue? I tried adding a Clothing tab to the MGO Ticket spreadsheet, but it never got any traction.
Would people be opposed to a facebook mgoblog trading group? A thread on mgoboard would have the same inherent flaw we run into many other times - no direct messaging system.
I received a few care packages from fellow MgoBoarders when the twins were born, and I was really touched. Now that I'm done with producing offspring (please, God...) I'd love to send them to a new home.
Thoughts?

I think that a Facebook group would be reasonable, it seems to be what all the cool kids do these days.
I actually try to buy youth-sized premier jersies, as they fit me better. So there's that.

I'm proud to say that I still do not have a facebook account, and have no plans of ever creating one. Fuck facebook.

You're a smarter man than I.
Seriously.
Facebook sucks. Pretty much use it just for messenger at this point.

Amen, sir. I have one, but ONLY to post comments on certain websites, as there are ones that (annoyingly) require a dumb Facebook account to do so. I went through all my settings so no one can find me by name and I don't get any e-mail or alerts from Facebook. I cannot stand how obsessed so many are with Facebook.

and I never will.
That said, if anyone happens to have an authentic Michigan Cheerleader outfit, I may be willing to pay a good price for it.

and does your wife and/or girlfriend know about this fetish of yours?

"Now that I'm done with producing offspring (please, God...) I'd love to send them to a new home."
You know, pronoun antecedent basis is a helpful thing.

This is a quite possibly an even more fantastic idea.
although sadly I'm not sure I'm going to be able to make the spring game but I'm holding out hope.

However, those with many litle ones living inconsequential distances away from the location of games are probably not the most likely to be at such an event :P

If you're looking for the capacity to get notifications, something like Facebook might not be a bad venue for such an endeavor. One of the many limitations of this blog is that all of the threads are basically a snapshot in time and anything that is predicated on the need for notifications or real-time updating just doesn't work well.
That being said, an MGoClassifieds would be interesting - we have such a thing on the company intranet here and it is heavily utilized. Someone even sold a house on it once.

It's called Ebay.

Yeah, this is pretty much what ebay exists for.
