This might be as big of a commit for us as Dorsey.

A dominant LT is so, so important, and not having to see him in a buckeye jersey is a very good thing for us

3 classes with little to show for it in terms of O-Line play?

I'm not just trying to bash on OSU, because they DO turn out a lot of good players at a lot of different positions (mostly on defense), but they do NOT have a good history of producing NFL quality O-linemen. I was actually very surprised that Henderson was really considering them...their "offer" must have been mighty tempting.

Not only has today not gone well for OSU, but no one in the Big 10 or Notre Dame had a great get--outside of Demar Dorsey to Michigan.

It would have been better if he would have gone to Miami, however. Michigan will play USC soon when things start looking up again.

More likely, Lane Kiffin's tenure is one of mediocrity, and we don't have to play USC because they won't be in the Rose Bowl/National Championship/theoretical playoff that would be awesome but isn't happening because college football sacrifices its soul for money.

...and I'll go a little further. USC will be getting the banhammher soon, Kiffin will get fired for more violations, and Henderson will not ever play against the Wolverines.

I have no idea what Kiffin is telling these kids to convince them that the NCAA hammer isn't about to drop on his program. If SC ends up with major football sanctions, I see mass transfers, an indefinite decent into mediocrity, and the eventual end of Lane Kiffin in the near future. Seriously, I don't have a clue what USC's appeal is right now.

I, for one, would have a hard time turning down that kind of money. If that is not the appeal, it has to be the hostesses. There is a chance that the money their given is to pay for increasingly attractive "hostesses".

Unless OSU can somehow swing Anderson back their way they missed on a lot of their top targets. And FTR - USC's class is ridiculous in terms of overall star rating, it's above 4 with them now netting 5 / 5-stars. If Anderson end up a Trojan that would be 6 and I think they end up with a better class overall than Florida.

It's astonishing how much OSU whiffed this year. Even with Ware and Hicks aside, since they didn't have the natural homestate advantage.....Seantrel Henderson, Sharrif Floyd, Josh Shaw, Lamarcus Joyner, Matt James. 0'fer.

Ware wanted to play baseball, Hicks was only considering OSU to appease the rabid masses, while Floyd, Shaw, and James were guys with presumptive favorites who they ended up signing with anyway. Of those players, I think the staff only really expected to land Henderson and Hicks.

Joyner was an interesting case, committing soon after the retirement of Mickey Andrews became inevitable. The kid was dying to be a 'Nole, and I think he wanted the Bowden era to end before he signed on the dotted line.

James was a product of the Cincinnati Catholic high school system, which has always been kind to Notre Dame.

It was an interesting year, in general, for Ohio State recruiting. It wasn't so much an example of Tressel getting straight-up beat by other recruiters (though there's no shame in losing to likes of Brown, Kelly and Meyer), as an odd confluence of extremely talented players in the region who grew up rooting for other teams and felt a serious connection to those teams once their staffs made contact.

This is not an unprecedented occurrence; as recently as 2007, Ohio State missed out on a number of guys who were thought to be locks/ leaning heavily toward Ohio State: Eric Berry, Major Wright, and Ben Martin are the first guys off the top of my head.

It's recruiting. Stuff happens. Trust me: we'll be back with a top-10 class next year.

People who neg a comment simply because it was written by a fan of another team makes me really sad. People like poguemahone and irish write well though out, insightful and useful posts and I personally consider having intelligent conversations with non-Michigan fans one of the best parts of mgoblog. Yet people can't see past them being fans of a rival. Way to go mgoboard.

Did you come up with a new alter-ego? The writing style is similar - not directly combative but it has an undercurrent of superiority. Pretty soon the MGoBlog intelligentsia will be extolling the virtues of having a Buckeye on board that provides "insightful" comments. I look forward to your frequent posts and will hang on every word.

Poguemahone has been around for a fair amount of time. Based on dates, he's been here longer than you.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I would GLADLY take "insightful" comments from a buckeye over "moronic" comments from Michigan fans.

Length of time as a member of this blog or number of years donating money to the University of Michigan? Count this "moron" in the decades of the latter. Honestly, what is wrong with taking a jab at a Buckeye fan or Irish for that matter? I don't call them morons but it is certainly reasonable to question why they would spend so much time on a Michigan blog. How much time do you spend on their blogs?

My personal fav would be the Mcfarlin Era, I challenge anyone to name a superior era. Hopes were high, we didn't know how bad the D was, Tate had 20 gazillon TD passes in the spring game and an undefeated season seemed attainable to some of the rational posters of that bygone era.

really struck out today, and this year in fact. They have a good class, it isn't chopped liver by no means, but they had high hopes on a lot of major, elite prospects and completely missed out for the most part. Remember how selective they were at the beginning of the year regarding offers? So funny.

they still have a very good class, very good depth, and one class does not make or break them. I expect they will rebound next year after a very strong season.

I enjoyed the statement from Seantrel's father that they plan on moving out there in the next 6-7 months. Does USC provide houses for players and there families or just for players? Maybe I should ask Reggie where the houses come from...
