Assuming your age is close to that of your grad sister...

Broadway at the Beach is your likely destination. A large restaurant/bar/nightlife scene built boardwalk-style around a man-made lagoon. Some good spots to hang there - don't bother with big names like Hard Rock etc.

Crocodile Rocks - one of my favs; has dueling pianos upstairs and can get a fun/rowdy crowd. With so many people here from all over, they do some cool stuff, like having bidding wars to see what school fight song they'll play, hot girl dancing on the piano contests etc...

Dude as much as I appreciate you being from Florida, being a UM fan and not jumping on the Florida and Tebow bandwagon that was a dick move. He had the same motive as you, let people know of the news since weve been discussing about Knight all day yesterday and all waiting for the news.

FWIW, Sam Webb said this morning that he talked to Knight about this, and he said Knight denied making any decision.

Unfortunately, Webb also mentioned the Parker-to-Washington rumors, and he said that his gut feeling was in need of some Pepto-Bismol.

And for the trifecta, Webb says that rumors are that Florida has re-entered the Demar Dorsey sweepstakes.

So I'm preparing myself for the complete and utter MGoBlog meltdown if we strike out on all three.

I'm not usually a proponent of the power of negative thinking, but it seems to be all we have left at this point. So I've convinced myself we won't get any of the three, while hoping that my track record of always being wrong about these things will hold up. I believe the Parker to Washington rumors -- Sarkisian is the real thing. I also believe Knight to New Jersey, which seems like a good fit for him.

However, there is a strong argument for Dorsey getting out of Florida, away from his past...

Unfortunate news, but at least he made his decision today and not tomorrow. With one less safety on the board, maybe it gives a better shot at Parker.

On a side note, if Parker did choose Washington and no one decommits for them, that would give UW 30 commits, most of any BCS conference school (only Air Force currently has more). Ridiculous.

It's still a very good class, no matter what happens with the last few prospects. I definitely hope Parker signs with UM, but it won't suddenly make the entire class suck if he doesn't.

Besides, I know defense is a priority, but the moment that made this class a success in my eyes was when Devin Gardner enrolled for his first day of classes.

The day is not done, so I make no statement about the eventual outcome...but the last few prospects do matter.

We need to show that we can win the battle for key recruits. I don't expect that we get every kid, but it's a bad sign if the last minute picks all go elsewhere. Beyond that, we should NEVER lose out to Rutgers (unless the kid's dad is a coach, professor, etc.). You're correct in that it won't kill the class, but RR is riding a "he always closes well" wave in recruiting. He needs to continue that momentum.

Thought something might be up with Knight when I woke up this morning and on one of the recruiting sites it had an article written about Knight from one of the Rutgers' writers. Isn't this one of Mgorecruiting rules, in that if a commit is deciding and an article is produced by a writer from a competing team about said player, normally that forbodes bad things?

Yup. I guess I'd say the odds are better at whiffing entirely than getting one. I never expected to get three; getting Parker and Knight was great, but to strike out on all three would really suck.

Sam's gut feelings have taken a beating recently. First Grimes, now Parker.

I wonder if it would have made more sense to send the five coaches to Parker or Knight in order to secure something that seemed pretty likely, instead of going after a guy (Dorsey) who was a long shot to begin with. 20-20 hindsight...

I don't necessarily think we "lost" a player to Rutgers. Rutgers offered him something we couldn't/wouldn't: a shot at a starting spot with little/no competition. I don't blame him for taking the easier road and certainly wish him the best of luck, but if he didn't want to compete against better athletes every day and have to work for his starting spot, I'm not all broken up that we didn't get him.

All that aside, he's a quality player and I wish he were donning a winged helmet in the fall.

Starting from the worst-case scenario that Knight, Dorsey, and Parker all go elsewhere, are there any other uncommitted safeties/DBs out there who are worth a scholarship that we didn't initially offer who we could now go after? Or will RR simply stand pat with the recruits he's gotten and save the scholarships for next year?

Rodriguez said that he "won't take a guy just to take a guy" but I do think he'll try to fill out this class. There's no reason to hoard scholarships. I think we'll see one or two surprises tomorrow.

Agree 100%. I still expect one or two decommits, and I bet you're right that among the surprises will be another OL. What a freaking roller-coaster recruiting is.... it's not for the faint of heart.

Too bad there's no chance the additional OL will be Seantrel Henderson.

After seeing what Ray Rice has done in the NFL, I'm convinced that Rutgers' little run was more attributable to having one of the best RB's in the country and playing in a down league than it was about Schiano or about Rutgers becoming a decent football program. Ray's time there has helped put them on the map, and since then they've picked up a couple recruits, but since he left they've been mediocre. Look for this to continue.

I'm not wishing bad upon Knight or the Knights, just that I think he picked a losing squad.

Schiano can point at recent bowl victories and winning records over the past few seasons, whereas RR has to sell a kid on where Michigan is headed, not where it's been of late. I'm sure that is tough, and in this case I think Schiano really used that to his advantage.

That being said, in my biased mind, how a kid from FL can pick a school in Jersey over Michigan puzzles me. But, I wish Rashad the best of luck at Rutgers. And I can't wait to watch him play in the Papajohns.com Bowl, or quite possibly the St. Petersburg Bowl!!

He could have picked Rutgers due to the league they are in. He's likely to face little competition at his spot, with South Florida in the same league he has a better chance of being seen at home on tv and when they play at SF his friends and family can see him play. Not saying thats entirely why he picked Rutgers but I'm sure it factored in.
