Seriously - its raining NJ recruits
January 25th, 2016 at 1:11 PM ^
I think we're starting to see why Harbaugh considers Partridge indispensable at this point in time.
January 25th, 2016 at 1:14 PM ^
And which makes Rutgers' decision not to bring him on board more inexplicable every time someone from New Jersey commits.
Harbaugh should send a thank you card to them!
January 25th, 2016 at 1:16 PM ^
Michigan is awesome in all respect with the NJ connection
- Trusted local advisor (Partridge)
- Top headcoach in college football (Harbaugh)
- Great legacy and tradition in school
- Top academic and atheletic facilities
It is tough to ignore all of that.
January 25th, 2016 at 3:01 PM ^
Remember Rutgers faced a backlash from other local HS coaches and we had posters suggesting that we would never get any NJ players outside of his old school.
Partridge should thank them too. He has benefitted than anyone. It would have been near impossible to have that kind of impact there so quickly. His future at Rutgers would be uncertain at best. Here, he is learning under Brown, Mattison and Harbaugh and is making a lot more dough.
January 25th, 2016 at 3:09 PM ^
In a way I'm not surprised. As he coached a Catholic school and built it into a powerhouse, he probably engaged in some recruiting there.
January 25th, 2016 at 5:17 PM ^
I think it's Michigan + Harbaugh + Patridge. If you sent Patridge to Rutgers with Kyle Flood, ain't no way in hell they sign most of the top 10 in NJ. Maybe a few more, but Rutgers remains Rutgers.

And we're perhaps seeing why Ohio was de-emphasized as a "must-get" state.
January 25th, 2016 at 2:35 PM ^
New Jersey is the new Ohio.
January 25th, 2016 at 3:04 PM ^
That's a mean thing to say about New Jersey.
January 25th, 2016 at 3:16 PM ^
Correct, as it is the Garden State after all.
January 25th, 2016 at 3:02 PM ^
Also partially why Urban Meyer hired Greg Schiano.
January 25th, 2016 at 1:19 PM ^
We should put up a Statue of Liberty at The Big House, "Give me your tired of hearing from Rutgers recruits, the poor huddled players yearning to be free of the State of New Jersey"
January 25th, 2016 at 1:22 PM ^
This is why I can't get too upset about Rutgers being in the conference. Michigan has a ton of exposure in that state now.
January 25th, 2016 at 4:41 PM ^
So, in order to save the team, we had to burn down the conference?

Episode I, when he was very young.

I was born in NJ and go there every summer. You see Michigan stuff everywhere now. It used to be all Penn State. We are considered a "local team" there now.
January 25th, 2016 at 3:18 PM ^
Per Bentley's historical rosters:
52 NJ players 1891-2013. (Less than 1 every 2 years)
5 NJ players 2014-2015.
5 current NJ commits.

So are we playing charades, or are you going to spill it?

Well I have a reliable source(your mom) that says your full of it.

So Hawkins or Johnson. I'd say Hawkins is much more likely based on the number of WRs we're bringing in.

Hmm, I give this four FAKES out of five. I'll give you a tiny benefit of the doubt.
January 25th, 2016 at 1:11 PM ^
I have a truly innocent question that I'm hoping somebody can help me with who knows more about recruiting.
How many wide receivers do most classes aim to have?
It seems as if we have an over abundance, especially considering we don't lose any Wide Receivers during this offseason to graduation.
January 25th, 2016 at 1:14 PM ^
It's not about 2016. It's about the future.
After Chesson and Darboh graduate, you have Grant Perry, Mo Ways and.............
January 25th, 2016 at 2:46 PM ^
I am not expet. But, I'm thinking this would be much more of a dillema or quandry if this were Hoke. Given Harbaugh's willingness to move talent around in order to find the best spot for them going forward, irrespective of where theirhigh school coaches had them in the past, makes counting the number of "wide recievers" a bit of an exercise in futility.

1) Look here: http://mgoblog.com/content/michigan-depth-chart-class-0
2) Find WR row.
3)???
4) Profit
January 25th, 2016 at 1:17 PM ^
I don't know how many WR a typical class has.
However, even though we don't lose any WR this offeason, we do lose our top 3 receiving options after NEXT season (Chesson, Darboh, Butt).
So, perhaps the idea is to get a bunch of guys on campus for this coming season so that at least a couple of them will be ready to make a significant impact the next season?

Ahmir Mitchell and Brad Hawkins are considered to be WR/ATH.
The only true WR in this class are Dylan Crawford and Nate Johnson. I guess you can replace Nate Johnson with McDoom. Stewart is also being recruited as a pure WR.
Pie Young is someone who is being recruited as an ATH or WR/CB.
January 25th, 2016 at 1:30 PM ^
January 25th, 2016 at 1:55 PM ^
I'm just going off what recruiting guys on other sites have said. They said Crawford and Stewart are being recruited as pure WR while others are ATH.
January 25th, 2016 at 2:16 PM ^
January 25th, 2016 at 1:22 PM ^
As with many Harbaugh recruits, just because they are listed as WR on the recruiting sites doesn't mean that's going to be their position in college. Several of the commits and targets have been talked about as corners or safeties as well. So even if 6 WRs come in, it may only be 3 who play and there will likely be 4 recievers leaving the team between this year and next.

Chesson, Darboh, Da'Mario Jones, Jaron Dukes, Drake Harris, Mo Ways, and Grant Perry currently on the roster. It's not a popular subject, but this could be one of those areas where we see a few transfers after spring practices to make 85 by the fall.
