OT: What are you drinking/snow stopped!

Submitted by gopoohgo on

Stone Vertical 08 down the hatch as a reward for 5 hours of shoveling.

Now, Maker's Mark Cask strength.  Thank God it stopped snowing....

Opened my bottle of Balcones Texas Single Malt.  Tastes like a decent Scotch single malt...but a really funky nose.  Best description would be...tequilla?  WTF?

Makers has gotten cheap you can tell in the last idk say 5-10 years to keep up with demand I think they have ruined their product. Makers 10 years ago was a completely different profile. For the price range of Masker's CS you can buy something a hell of a lot better IMO.

makes clean up a snap.  added bonus, i pile some of the snow up at the top of my kids' favorite sledding hill so it gives them a pretty shear drop-in for the first 8-10'.

one of the Christmas gifts exchanged this year at our house was two of the boys made ski's (crude, but workable) for some of the younger siblings.   they haven't asked me to make a jump/ramp yet, but i'm guessing that'll come right after they master the ski thing.

Nothing.  Too exhausted to drink.

Snow is done here.  Probably around 30 inches over about 30 hours.  7 different shoveling sessions.  Sore.

But, I'll have the next few nights to drink.  Probably not going back to work until at least Wednesday, if then.

You have to do it eventually, and sooner is often better than later. If you wait the snow might harden or freeze over (depending on conditions). Plus if you clear the driveway then the sun/warmth can melt what little is left behind. If you drive on it without clearing it you get sections that are packed down and hard to fully clear.

Half has to do with my neurosis about that type of thing.

Half has to do with wanting to show-up my asshole neighbors.

Yet another half:  I will have to shovel it out sometime.  Temps over the next few days won't lend to big melting... just hardening and compacting, making it ridiculously difficult.

And one more half:  Gets me out of the house.  Basically the only thing to do outside the walls of my house... some physical activity.

Ouch that sucks.

I had this awesome bottom layer of slush on my driveway.  Two shovelfulls to clear the top layers, and this heavy motherfucking slush/snow mix at the bottom.

There is 4 feet of snow in the road at the end of my driveway.  Don't think my poor Kia Sorento (let alone the wife's Audi or our 3rd car Maserati Ghibli) is getting out anytime soon.

Yeah, but I have a friend who is a sucker who pays for a subscription, and he texted me to tell me what you are drinking. I'll be posting it to Buzzfeed in a minute. . . .

I live in upper New England, and this seems to be happening a lot lately--the mid-Atlantic gets nailed (and maybe Philly and NY), and we don't get anything. I'm not complaining!!! No shoveling tonight, so I did some work and now I am settling down with a Two-Hearted.

day here in West Michigan - nice to actually get a break from the lake effect.  Had a great dinner, chilling by the fire with a hearty Bulleit bourbon.

Had a great snowball fight with my kids, built a snowman, rearranged shelves in my bathroom, moved a large bookshelf into a closet, bought groceries and finished the day with Boston Milkshakes for the kids along with a family movie night (Pan). Attacking my Saturday with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind
