I'm pretty sure he had a Michigan offer, but it was pulled when he tore his ACL (or some other injury) while in high school. He had an MSU offer as well.

before that knee injury. He and Drew Nietzel had some memorable battles back in high school and Nietzel was pulling him hard to State. Sure hated to see that injury to him. I remember watching him single handedly win a state title against Muskegon Heights a few years back. I believe he scored forty some points and the final score was in the fifties.

BlockM and I went to high school with David...he was a ridiculously good player. I'll always remember his games, especially when we played Wyoming Park (Neitzel) and East GR (Kelvin Grady. I never understood why schools cooled on him after his injury. He always seemed just as good his senior year (after the injury) as before.

Anyways, congrats to David!

Beat me to it! I'll never forget him scoring something like 40+ points in the semifinals and finals of the State Championship.

If he ever goes pro, I can tell my kids I played middle school ball with him (I was the lone third-stringer on the team), and that I once had a huge block on him in IM volleyball.

Great guy, wish M had kept on him. I think he was a fan if I remember correctly. I know he's been to some games at the Big House. He would have been dynamite, and he also MAKES FREETHROWS.

nothing but class...He would have helped here tremendously (especially this year). A shame Amaker was not too interested. But he deserves the record, and good luck to him the rest of the year!

Injuries like ACL's are how players like this end up in the MAC. They fall off the recruting map of the biggies. Similar phenomenon to how QB's like Dan LeFevour and Tim Hiller end up at MAC schools - late injuries in their high school careers, they are forgotten about, and end up throwing for 10,000 yards in the MAC.

Kool doesn't look like a great athlete when you see him live, but boy does he fill it up.
