Your MGoName

Submitted by GoBlueScott on

I can't remember this being posted, if it's ever been done, so if it somehow slipped my attention I'll apologize now. Even so, we have quite a few new peeps around here, and I am constantly wondering why you chose your MGoName.

Some, of course, are obvious.

Some are not. Like, "Brian." Always confused me.

Why did you choose yours?

I'm really hoping Misopogon answers.

Ex Navy now Coast Guard Gunners Mate (Weapons Guy) and were all kind of Ape'ish in our demeanor.

And of course Al Bundy which is the greatest TV father of all time.

Mocking nickname of Dan Pelekoudas, one of the least popular players on the basketball team back in the 80s when I was there. Yes, I’m old. Pelekoudas was also sometimes known as “Frieder’s son” thanks to the coach’s stubborn insistence on playing him despite his not being very good at basketball.

Further explanation: Former NBA All Star/never met a shot he didn't like Lloyd Free (aka “All World”) legally changed his name to World B. Free in 1980.

#51 in your program.............and probably #51 in your heart.

Avatar comes from my insatiable thirst for Guinness. Well, insatiable might be the wrong adjective. I just really like it a lot. My wristwatch is currently not running and I'm too lazy to go to the jewelry store to have it fixed. I have the hands set at 10mintues to 1. I may need help.

I am a former MMB trumpet (in the 90s). If you look really closely at the picture, you might find me. Females tend to be very much in the minority as far as trumpet players go and that has always been the case for the 20+ years that I've played. I never minded though. The guys always keep things fun.

I first used this SN on the scout boards like four years ago. Decided that I would keep it and use it here. BrayBray is just what I use to call Braylon when he was playing here, I know it annoys some people, but you can't please everybody.

I'm a Michigan grad and fan, but I live in South Bend.

I suppose it could also be a statement about the effects of being a Michigan fan while attending grad school at Notre Dame, or a comment on how people in South Bend should feel about their lives. But mostly, it's just cause I live in South Bend...

or whatever the eff nation everyone else likes to talk about. The only team worthy of having a nation is the Maize and Blue. No one else has the history, prestige, academics, and desire for greatness that Michigan has. Eff all other "nations", cause were the only one that matters.

Bluebyyou - I had just seen/heard the song Blue By You from the Roy Orbison Blu-Ray Black and White Nights - great DVD by the way. The song always reminded me of the University of Michigan for obvious reasons. My younger son and I were discussing something about his Michigan career path and he managed to piss me off. I started singing the song is a sarcastic manner. We both laughed, and went to Zingerman's for lunch. Seemed like a good thing to use when I joined Mgoblog that evening

its a really stupid story...

but when I was a freshman in HS our group of friends had found a "mascot" for our group...it was a really really weird plastic goat that we would just have hanging out at whomever's home or car or whatever that we were hanging out in. We decided that he needed a name... I suggested Billy the goat...we didn't like that after about five minutes...then we decided Billy Bob (not too many years removed from Varsity Blues the movie). Then we decided we didn't like that after a few minutes...something need to be more fitting... something like Silent Bob because...well he was plastic he couldn't speak. Then like a gift from god we decided: lunchbox (we were big Kevin Smith movie fans where Jay quite often calls Silent Bob 'lunchbox'). Hence: Lunchboxthegoat.

The icon is because the state of Ohio should have never passed inspection. Horrible dump of a state. America's armpit.

My User name is my real name. It was a mistake, but I never bothered changing it.

Actually, having my real name out there makes me think twice about what I write. I always ask, am I willing to publicly be associated with my thoughts and comments posted here? Being willing to do this makes life easier, as I never have to deny anything, and for the most part, am never embarrassed.

However, there are limits to self-disclosure. Unlike Brian and Tom VH, I'm not planning on posting my pic any day soon.
