Your MGoName

Submitted by GoBlueScott on
I can't remember this being posted, if it's ever been done, so if it somehow slipped my attention I'll apologize now. Even so, we have quite a few new peeps around here, and I am constantly wondering why you chose your MGoName. Some, of course, are obvious. Some are not. Like, "Brian." Always confused me. Why did you choose yours? I'm really hoping Misopogon answers.

Misopogon told us about the origins of his MGoName in the comments of an unrealted thread a couple months ago. I don't remember the details, but Misopogon is an essay by Julian the Apostate.

"Smarter than me" would be correct. Or you could go with "smarter than I am." "I" is a subject pronoun. "Me" is the grammatical inflection for when the pronoun is the object being acted upon. So for this sentence, you would want to go with "me." Either way, the intent of the statement was transmitted, communication was successful, and anyone who wants to give you shit for this can answer to I me. And thank you.

I own a bakery just outside of Ann Arbor. I am also soft and round in the middle and go "Ehh-heh-hee" whenever anyone pokes me in the belly with their index finger.

Blue in Yarmouth

January 28th, 2010 at 12:26 PM ^

I am from Yarmouth and I am a UM fan. The blue has a twofold meaning though. The obvious being a Blue fan and the fact that I am blue (sad) because I am so far from AA and have never got to see a game live.

When I moved down here I heard this "joke" probably 20 times: Random Southerner: "Your not from around here, are you?" Me: "No sir, I grew up in Detroit and just moved her from MN" Southerner: "Do you know the difference btw.a yankee and a Damn Yankee?" Me: "No sir" Southerner: "a yankee is someone from up north that comes to visit. A damn yankee is someone from up north that never leaves."

My initials because I'm an editor and writer and didn't want to be one of those people who gets caught saying absurd and juvenile things on comment threads using a fake name. The absurd and juvenile things I say on comment threads are nothing to be ashamed of!

Sheer laziness and lack of creativity. I do think I was one of the first on the new, non-Haloscan MGo with a name that played on the blog name.

It's my aol screen name from like 10yrs ago. My name is Jeff and at the time my hockey # was 5 and my football # was 42. I was very creative when I was twelve.

MH20

January 28th, 2010 at 12:30 PM ^

On the surface, it's easy to see why I chose MH20. Some guy who has some career rushing record or something. I don't know. Deeper down, I really don't know why I chose MH20. My usual online pseudonym is 'longview' but I guess on that fateful date of October 30th, I wasn't thinking straight? I don't know.

Zone Left

January 28th, 2010 at 12:32 PM ^

When Michigan went almost exclusively to the zone running game in 2006, my favorite play was the stretch play to the left side of the field behind a young Jake Long. It worked really well until everyone realized the run to the left and to the right were the two options on first down. Hence, Zone Left.

Ghost of Bo

I am the little voice in all of your heads that speaks up when you need it the most. I am the twinkle in the eyes of laughing children. I haunt the Boren family at night. I sit at the right hand of God himself. I am the Ghost of Bo.
