Your MGoName
I can't remember this being posted, if it's ever been done, so if it somehow slipped my attention I'll apologize now. Even so, we have quite a few new peeps around here, and I am constantly wondering why you chose your MGoName.
Some, of course, are obvious.
Some are not. Like, "Brian." Always confused me.
Why did you choose yours?
I'm really hoping Misopogon answers.

or Harmon, Howard, Woodson...whatever you prefer.

Here I thought it stood for hot HOT WOMEN!
Where did you get that pic?
January 28th, 2010 at 11:38 PM ^
dialectical dream analysis by chance? If not, nevermind. The hottrackbabes who are into each other are subliminally selling muy blank tapes for TDK. Post regularly and keep the avatar...its a classic.

I am Dhani Jones.
January 28th, 2010 at 12:42 PM ^
prove it
January 28th, 2010 at 12:47 PM ^
That's what someone on elevenwarriors said to a guy with a Gred Oden screename ... and here we are.

Challenge him to a contest involving an obscure sport from a different country and see if he accepts...
January 31st, 2010 at 3:17 AM ^
to know I'm not the only person who watched that show.
January 31st, 2010 at 12:08 PM ^
I caught a few of the episodes. Of the ones I saw, the Switzerland was my favorite - Schwingen!
I would have liked to have seen the Thailand one, where he trains & competes in Muay Thai.
January 28th, 2010 at 12:44 PM ^
What's your middle name? (Or is this common knowledge?)
January 28th, 2010 at 12:50 PM ^
Because of Wikipedia, yes.
A better question would be for someone who had classes with him at UofM to ask about something obscure.
January 28th, 2010 at 1:03 PM ^
But Dhani, tell me about your academic advisor at Michigan...? hehe
January 28th, 2010 at 1:02 PM ^
I love your tv show...
January 28th, 2010 at 1:47 PM ^
If so, let me just say that you are awesome.
What dorm did you live in?
January 30th, 2010 at 11:55 AM ^
West Quad
January 30th, 2010 at 3:08 PM ^
Weren't you in the Residential College...? ;-P
January 28th, 2010 at 12:35 PM ^
Eliphino.

Since kids called people by their last name. Since people couldn't pronounce mine everyone shortened it to "bouje".
January 28th, 2010 at 1:09 PM ^
Did you by chance go to MSU?
If you did, my brother had a roommate that was crazy about U-M sports and had a last name that sounded like that.
I very well may know you, sir.
January 28th, 2010 at 1:44 PM ^
Sorry
January 28th, 2010 at 12:36 PM ^
I'm not a big hot dog eater, but I would have lunch at Red Hot Lovers at least twice a week. The hot dogs were good, but the cheese fries were awesome.

January 28th, 2010 at 12:36 PM ^
Well, it's funny that you think my name is "Magnum" sometimes, because that describes something I usually keep privately hidden, if you know what I'm saying.
(I'm a huge Tom Selleck fan.)
(That's what I'm saying.)
January 28th, 2010 at 1:05 PM ^
Looking at your avatar pic, not as big a Selleck fan as some around here... ;-)
January 28th, 2010 at 12:37 PM ^
I was new to the community, went with fresh meat. My usual screen name for stuff has too much of my name in it to use for posting in an online forum
January 28th, 2010 at 12:40 PM ^
I am a Michigan Grad but live in Ontario now.
January 28th, 2010 at 12:41 PM ^
I couldn't come up with anything original so I just went with my favorite player from Michigan. The extra z's show how awesome Braylon is.

white pony is the name of the deftones third album which was released in 2000. It is my favorite album ever which has my favorite song ever on it (passenger). and rocks because kicks_ass would be too much to type.
January 28th, 2010 at 12:43 PM ^
thought it was a clever pun. meh.
January 28th, 2010 at 3:13 PM ^
was in NOLA 2 yrs ago and draw a big block M on a skatepark in town and then wrote 'geaux blue' underneath. i hope the locals appreciated it
January 28th, 2010 at 12:43 PM ^
well, "GOBLUE" was taken at the vehicle licensing department so the next logical step was to replace "GO" with 60, hence 60Blue. No, I did not graduate in 1960.

I will never tell. Muahahahahahahaaha. Actually I just thought I was a huge nerd for logging on countless hours to a blog that a friend recommended to me. And the opposite of being a nerd is to be cool. But if you're really cool, you're turbo cool (seems like an expression some WOW guy would use). And here we are.
Re: my avatar. I thought of the WOW guy from south park and to me it was hilarious (and slightly depressing) that I was becoming like him spending so much time with my comp. Plus, it's like looking at your monitor and seeing some huge dork looking back at you.
January 28th, 2010 at 12:45 PM ^
It's the name I used in Goldeneye (Perfect Dark maybe?) back in the day and for whatever stupid reason, is has just kind of stuck around. I thought it was funny when I was 13.
January 28th, 2010 at 1:13 PM ^
Did you graduate UM in 2006?
Or does MSC say that at every commencement now?
January 28th, 2010 at 1:58 PM ^
She says it at every one.
January 28th, 2010 at 4:55 PM ^
Nah, 2008.
January 28th, 2010 at 12:47 PM ^
Was blessed by my parents to be granted the initals PHD. I just have a bachelor's from U-M. Also, my AOL screen name from back in the early days of the Interwebs.
January 28th, 2010 at 12:50 PM ^
And because a few years ago some guy at a basketball game called me Sgt. Wolverine.
January 28th, 2010 at 12:52 PM ^
Also, you have one of my favorite avatars on the entire blog!
January 28th, 2010 at 1:27 PM ^
the look on my face in the photo isn't one of confidence, but of disappointment. That photo was taken after the last-second loss to Minnesota a few years ago. Stupid Gophers.
January 28th, 2010 at 1:39 PM ^
I think you look very stoic in the picture, and the lighting is amazing. That + your MGoName make me think you're on guard just outside the Big House or something, possibly keeping said stupid Gophers at bay!
January 28th, 2010 at 5:43 PM ^
I was there... I didn't realize how much I loved The Brown Jug until the Gophers were running around our field with it raised over their heads in celebration.
January 28th, 2010 at 12:58 PM ^
Were you at the spring game? I think I saw you outside the tunnel, while trying to get my boy some autographs...
January 28th, 2010 at 1:25 PM ^
I was there, and I walked out past the tunnel, so I'm pretty sure you saw me.
January 28th, 2010 at 1:36 PM ^
Complete with trench coat? If so, then yup.
January 28th, 2010 at 2:01 PM ^
It was just not-warm enough to wear the coat. It's a WW2-era wool trench coat, so if the weather is anything approaching warm, I can't wear it. Well, I guess I could, but then I'd be Sgt. Dehydration.
January 28th, 2010 at 2:12 PM ^
I forgot about this photo.
January 28th, 2010 at 4:24 PM ^
Where'd you get the helmet?
January 28th, 2010 at 5:07 PM ^
From a now-defunct catalog that sold old USSR (and USSR-themed) stuff. I don't know for sure, but I think the helmet is from the Czech Republic, and I think it's from the 1960s. Or something like that. (The M paint is my own work.) I do know two things: it's heavy and it's not particularly comfortable (army helmets have come a long way since then). But I wouldn't trade it for anything.
This is the inside of the helmet:
