24/7,Scout,Rivals,etc
Well, my 24/7 subscription has expired and trying to see which subscription service (if any) that people would recommend.
I'm already an ESPN insider, but they suck at college football stuff so they're not in the running.
Thanks!

I personally love Scout, mainly for their insider stuff. I think Sam and Allen are the best, and generally have a ton of info. However, Scouts platform can be frustrating for general recruiting searches and their database takes some time to load. I use 247 or Rivals for that kind of stuff, but the insider info at Scout is worth every penny!
January 3rd, 2016 at 2:24 PM ^
You could try reddit, they always have all of the top insider info for free. I found out about the bag man conspiracy there before anybody else was talking about it
January 3rd, 2016 at 2:27 PM ^
Can confirm. Reddit not only posts articles from all three, but they have much better information on players and commitments. Try r/CFB and you will not be sorry :)

I read and post at r/cfb very consistently, but it's a frustrating group of people. First of all, almost everyone hates Michigan, which is something I could get over if even the mods weren't unbiased, but most of them are. Two, the SEC bias is about as big as ESPN's. It's honestly surprising, but still an alright spot to get a view on the general college football landscape.

Reddit hates all my teams vigorously. I take it as a complement that I don't have the same favorite teams as neckbeards and trolls.
All my favorite subs have replaced meaningful discussion with "check out a picture of my (thing the sub is devoted to")"
January 3rd, 2016 at 3:05 PM ^
It's brutal right? I've read the college football board there over the past 2.5 years and it's gotten so much worse. You've got a ton of fans who know next to nothing about college football essentially running the discussion due to the up/downvote system. It sucks because it's easily the widest reaching general college football board but the mods and most of the posters are so bad.

I've moved to /r/cfbofftopic because I couldn't take it anymore. Much nicer group of people and still decent game threads. Definitely do not go to any /r/cfb game threads. They are as bad or worse than the /r/nfl game threads.
January 3rd, 2016 at 5:31 PM ^
Yeah it's strange how much they hate Michigan. anyone with Sparty or OSU flair gets upvoted regardless of what they say, even if it's idiotic or misinformed, and especially if it involves a Michigan insult. I found myself pretending to agree with anybody just so I wouldn't shower in downvotes and have my opinion buried anyway. I permanently stopped going there after the Fluke play. I don't miss it.
January 3rd, 2016 at 2:56 PM ^
Affirmative. I like reddit a lot for college football.

None of them are truly worth it. The information gets out a few hours after they say it anyway so unless you want the information immediately it isn't needed. With that said, I would recommend scout or 247. Scout has Sam Webb who is good, but can tend to fish for some views. 247 is probably the best all around service( especially site design and the composite rankings, but those are free) but since you already had that subscription you know what it is all about.
January 3rd, 2016 at 2:30 PM ^
If by hours you mean minutes and probably seconds, then I agree. I have never understood paying for recruiting info. The info always leaks out anyway and in reality, nothing matters until they sign the LOI so you are just paying for rumors and/or opinions.

I've never understood paying money for a Nintendo Wii. But people do it. Why? Because they like what it offers.
Different strokes for different folks.
January 3rd, 2016 at 3:08 PM ^
The Wii U on the other hand... most people didn't even realize that an acutal different console came out. They thought it was just a new controller for the Wii.

Best analogy I've heard in a long time. You win today.

I signed up for free on 247 and got charged $100 for a year subscription on the 1st. However while I can read VIP articles I cannot read VIP board posts; it asks me to sign up. I don't understand.

There's something wrong then. Email them and ask them either for a refund or to fix your account. I don't have 24/7 any more, but they were pretty quick to respond when I reached out while I had them. That said, they also changed their system a lot since I was on there and I can't even post over there because I don't pay the subscription even though my "home" site is the Michigan one. I think they did it so people with free accounts couldn't just troll the board, but it got kinda weird with what you could and couldn't do in the past year or two.

I was a Scout premium guy for 10+ years. I quit a few years back, and get everything I need here. The insider stuff from Sam Webb mentioned above is very good, but we are normally talking about a few hours on there before it is general knowledge and on here.
So, bottom line: If you're a psycho and you need to know what color a recruit's poop was RIGHT NOW rather than in 45 minutes, please join Scout... :-)
January 3rd, 2016 at 2:46 PM ^
I wasn't always a premium guy. What was your name there? I lurked around here since 05-06 and then dumped Scout for the blog around 2010-11. Long story but my last year there was free premium because of the actions of their insane mod. Dude became a tyrant and edited a bunch of my stuff in an effort to save face after violently insulting a bunch of posters for simply having a different opinion. Good riddance.
January 3rd, 2016 at 5:49 PM ^
I have never, and will never pay for that stuff. I just don't get it really. I'm sure there are some little nuggets on there that don't filter over here, but so what?
January 3rd, 2016 at 2:35 PM ^
24/7 Wolverine isn't worth it.
I subscribe to The Wolverine and read wolverine.com online.
It get's pretty repititious.
January 3rd, 2016 at 2:38 PM ^
Of the apostrophe there............
January 3rd, 2016 at 2:36 PM ^
For Michigan recruiting it's scout or 247.
January 3rd, 2016 at 2:37 PM ^
I was on socut for years mainly due to the victors club message board. A lot of poster brought good stuff there. But I rarely read the premium stories because there were so many and I don't need to know the ins and out of 200 eighteen year old kids,
Sam is very good no doubt, but man I wish there was just a cliff notes version. He goes way too in depth for my taste. Thats why I just come here now. You get the cliff notes for free but I honestly do miss the Victors Club message board.
I was on Rivals for one year about 4 yers ago, it just wasn't for me. Idk how it is now.
247 is awesome for the rankings but its free.
January 3rd, 2016 at 2:42 PM ^
I do scout. It's ok, but you gotta decide if Sam and Alan's info is worth 10 a month for you because the board is so shitty. Anything beyond the pinned topics is full of complete idiots. Sam has phenomenally reliable info on recruiting weeks earlier than anywhere else, but beyond that it's not worth the rest.

Is there a forum anywhere on the internet that isn't full of complete idiots?
Aside from here, I mean. Obviously we're smart and cool.
January 3rd, 2016 at 2:46 PM ^
already stated, but there really is no need to pay for this info anymore. The need went away years ago...
January 3rd, 2016 at 3:12 PM ^
I like their message board. If we are talking about free content, MGoFish is pretty good as well.
January 3rd, 2016 at 2:47 PM ^
I prefer www.mgoblog.com
January 3rd, 2016 at 2:57 PM ^
and it's free!
January 3rd, 2016 at 2:47 PM ^
Gregg Henson always has inside info and his website is bitchin. Plus, 3Gs in one name.
January 3rd, 2016 at 5:00 PM ^
If only his last name was Gilligan...
January 3rd, 2016 at 2:50 PM ^
If you're used to the board here on Mgoblog, the other boards will drive you crazy.
You can get all your good info here and pass on the others.
January 3rd, 2016 at 2:55 PM ^
This is false. Been on 247 for 2 years now, and a lot of what goes on there never gets reported here. It also tends to be ahead of MGo in terms of how soon info gets reported. I absolutely love this site, but I go to 247 when I want my insider fix.

So what good info do you get over there that doesn't make it here eventually? Info that some recruit is interested in us? If it's legit, we find out here. If not, who in the world gives a shit?
If they have insider practice info, THEN color me interested.
January 3rd, 2016 at 3:27 PM ^
"If it's legit, we find out here. If not, who in the world gives a shit?"
Obviously, the people who pay for the information give a shit. You need a refresher in capitalism.
January 3rd, 2016 at 3:33 PM ^
I deserved that.
January 3rd, 2016 at 4:43 PM ^
Does 24/7 give you insider access to other teams? Do any of the other sites?
January 3rd, 2016 at 4:48 PM ^
Rivals does not. I haven't checked 247.
January 3rd, 2016 at 5:09 PM ^
Yes, you can read inside articles on all the different 247 team sites.
January 4th, 2016 at 9:10 AM ^
Scout and Rivals will give you access to articles from other sites, but most of the "good" info is on the message board, which you do not get access to.
January 3rd, 2016 at 2:57 PM ^
I've had subscriptions to Rivals, 247, and ESPN (when they had Wolverine Nation). I never bothered with Scout because their site layout was terrible times 1,000,002.
As far as I'm concerned, 247 Sports is the best Michigan site going right now. I appreciate Sam Webb, but it's not enough to overcome their site issues.
January 3rd, 2016 at 3:12 PM ^
I would never visit scout scout either for the same reason, but I clicked on a link someone posted to their rankings page or something and was actually shocked that it was a Scout page. They come a long way recently to I would say at least functional and not want to gouge your eyes out. That said, I still think 24/7 has a best layout. Webb is always a top guy though.

January 3rd, 2016 at 8:37 PM ^
I have 247 and Rivals. 247 is my favorite of the two. Steve will tell you what he knows and won't give you fluff click bait stuff. He's the most straightforward of the insiders. He is by far my favorite one. Rivals is ok, but there's too many times when I read something and learn nothing. Their ITFs sometimes provide nothing and are 1000 words of BS. And the board is terrible. Too many idiots and guys asking questions that have been answers. If I had to use only one, it'd be 247.
Also, I've never messed with Scout. I can't stand the site as well.
