Yes best of luck to Tony Drake. I'm glad everything appears to have been well handled. We didn't have reject the kid and publically make statements about academics or anything like that. Rather he was able to move on, find a school and I hope he does well there.

I knew he was not going to get in here just kinda surprised he is going to Colorado St. Kinda thought he would stay instate maybe with TT, A&M, SMU, or TCU

Maybe I missed something, but how is Drake able to go to CSU without taking the ACT? I thought that was the primary issue with his recruitment.

The state of Michigan is one of the few states that requires ACT for its scores. Most other states require the SAT instead.

That said, who knows if he will qualify based on SAT scores either.

Drake is lightning in a bottle. But, if lightning wants to play college football at UofM he needs to do his school work and pass his tests. Kinnard is busting his butt to make it happen. Others in question should follow suit.

Wait, didn't we get word that Austin White wouldn't be in the class either? There aren't a whole lot of running backs left that would constitute an upgrade. Especially because Dillon Baxter, who actually visited M, already signed his LOI with USC. Unless we can snag a player who's already committed, this RB class is not looking great. If it stays this way, it'd be a big priority for next year.

Hopalong Boutros, a 6'8" running back with 4.3 speed, just decommitted from Bucknell. They would not let him play wearing the big cross. He is the "mystery recruit." RR is set to visit him in Zagreb this weekend. Keep your fingers rossed--rumored to be a nephew of our own Big Boutros. Could he be running back number 400,001?

Austin White and Stephen Hopkins are already enrolled. Combined with our current cadre of running backs, we have ourselves a good core. I will agree with you, however, that on paper we don't have a true game changer. I think someone (my money is on Fitz) will step up and have tremendous year. Next year, Demetrius Hart will (hopefully) be that on paper game changer.

The more I think about it, the more it's probably inaccurate, but Rivals.com has Baxter as having signed his LOI. Link is down the page as well as a most-likely-inaccurate link to ESPN that says Kyle Prater signed.

edited: Just checked the Rivals page again. They have changed Baxter back to unsigned.

Well, as opposed to what Drake's coach said, it's interesting that Rivals now lists Drake as NOT having an offer from Michigan. So it looks like the offer was rescinded, or the coach was trying to cover up for the fact that Drake wouldn't qualify academically to get into Michigan.

I've read that Dominique Brown is a contingency offer, in case one of our guys decommits at the last minute. He's got an offer from OSU, so he's not lacking talent.

Dillon Baxter already signed his LOI? That's weird, because it's against NCAA rule to sign a LOI until February 3...

I guess we've discovered another USC recruiting violation!

Sounds like Drake got the Barnes treatment..

"It was a lack of relationship between the player and the coaches in terms of talking about how they wanted me to perform at their school and what they wanted me to play," Drake said. "The coach who was recruiting me left and I didn't hear from them (Michigan), so I thought I would re-open my recruiting process.
