man at that point in the game you cant call that, even though i wish they did. As a former basketball player its understandable as to why they didn't call it. Great play call though!

As a ref I agree that the rules shouldn't change just because there isn't much time left on the clock. The only thing in this case is that without that third ref on the court I don't know if either ref had a good angle to see the shirt grab.

That's basketball. Almost everything can be called a foul. The boys played a great game, executed the play, it just didn't fall. Heartbreaking loss, no doubt, but it was there.

Lame and tiresome.

The elbow and the last play could have and probably should have been fouls, but it was a physical game by both teams.

Let's not have sour grapes, we took them down to the wire. Let's not make excuses, because when Sparty does we are all over them making fun. We played well and lost to the number 5 team in the country by 1. It's not that bad.

and then get jobbed at home. The best teams aren't gritty they just get the calls from refs because they are MSU or UW.

Shooting 32% on the night is what killed us. 25% on 3's. Not gonna win too many games like that, especially against the #5 team in the nation.

If I ever get the time, I want to watch games and see how many times shots are taken with less than 10 seconds off the shot clock. I think that statistic more than many will provide an indication of the outcome.

When they were patient and ran the offense last night, we did well. When they got excited and started shooting early and often from behind the line MSU caught bask up. This is what young teams do.

IMO, the stretch that exemplifies this happened late in the first half when we were rolling and had a 7 point lead. Our next four possessions were all 3s that were taken with less than 10 seconds off the shock clock, resulting in that lead evaporating and all of the momentum going back to MSU.

Wish he would have had the presence to bring it down and pop the shot. I think given the time, it would have been possible (though admittedly risky).

Looked like it was supposed to be a full-on oop if possible. Fantastic call, great game. Wish the outcome would have been different, but it is what it is. Lets keep cheering these guys on for the rest of the year.

is that it really shouldn't be an ejection. It's part of basketball, and it's the price you pay for tight defense. It's a hard foul, there's no intent to harm, so call it like any other hard foul with no intent to harm.

But when Manny does the EXACT same thing, and the refs point to the rule book and say "a rule's a rule, you have to be ejected," that's the problem. If it's a stupid rule, then it's a stupid rule all the time.

edit: That's a tough loss, not many expected us to contend but there's nothing we can do about one of the officials getting hurt. It is nearly impossible to make every call as a two man group

wow. I'm just so disappointed. it'd be nice to have a third ref out there to have position to call that. would have been a lot nicer for sims to bury it in spite of that. not sure how I'm typing this post sans heart as it's been ripped out and fed to the dogs.

sometimes to continue to grow you need to pass through games like this. That said, the 3 pointer, with 50 some secs to go and the lead, killed me.

The missed defensive rebound is the play that sticks in my craw. You don't expect to score every time down, but you should rebound your opponent's miss, especially on a three. We did a pretty good job on the defensive glass most of the night but that one was a killer.

YES! It would have made a huge difference being up 3 with 38 seconds left...

Generally I'm against Manny driving wildly to the hoop but I felt that in both situations that is the time you want to do that... I think him driving to the basket on either of the two airball attempts involves him making a shot or maybe at least getting fouled.

OH well.

Instead of whining about the calls, I will bitch about State fans. As I log onto Facebook, multiple State fans are all on my dick. OMG WHAT A GAME HAHA GO STATE! MICHIGAN SUCKS! Ooh, so annoying. State fans would rather have MSU be better than Michigan than be any good at all.
